The myth I want them to test is that it is possible to shatter an
upholstery needle into multiple pieces by throwing it at a glass pane.

Remarkably, they've already demonstrated that this myth is confirmed
while testing a different myth. However, they only did it once. If they
actually set out to test my proposed myth, they might well decide that
it is busted.

Regarding the monks' throwing of needles, it did seem to me that they
were throwing them very fast indeed - possibly faster than the champion
baseball thrower, who is, after all, known for throwing baseballs, not
for throwing needles. Given that Mythbusters demonstrated that it is
possible for an upholstery needle to make a hole in a glass pane, I
think they've been a bit hasty in their conclusion that it's busted as
far as human throwers go. The viral video may indeed be a fake, but I
wouldn't want to call it yet.

I don't even watch the show normally but seen enough episodes to know
that they do get things wrong, and sometimes intentionally sabotage
something so that it can't possibly work.

I doubt it's intentional, just a total lack of understanding proper
scientific method on their part. It's like Top Gear is to road tests, not to

Most likely it is as you say, although in one instance I do know they
omitted a critical component from one of their tests, something I find
hard to believe could have been unintentional <shrug>.
