Ford trying to extort money from taxpayers (yet again).

in October 2016, with the loss of hundreds of jobs."
That's cool how they announce three and a half years in advance that
they'll close up shop right about the time of the next election. That
gives the unionist thugs plenty of time to try to pressure Prime
Minister Abbott into giving them yet another hand out of tax-payers'
money to stay.
Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say, and it can't happen soon enough.
Once Ford and GM bugger off there'll be no reason to artificially
inflate the price of better quality cars to "protect Australian
jobs" (and subsidize American shareholders). The roads become safer,
citizens save money in the direct out-of-pocket cost of buying a car,
and also indirectly save hundreds of millions of dollars a year in
corporate welfare. Win, win and win!

they're actually gone, I''ll believe it. Until then, there's always
the risk a weak-willed, weak-minded government will offer them another
bribe to stay. Governments of both stripes have been propping up the
vehicle non-industry for 60 years with money that should have gone to
"schools, hospitals and better roads".

wont place any emphasis on exports. GM and Ford are more interested in
exporting from America, Toyota from Japan, best dump the lot

Right, why anyone calls it the "Australian car industry" when they are all

foreign owned is a mystery to me. And yet we already have calls to increase
tarrifs, as if that will make us all want to go out and buy Falcons :-(
Personally I think there should be a blanket ban on subsiding ANY company
more than the amount per job equivalent to the dole. MANY companies have
recieved far more than that for decades unfortunately, with no means
testing! :-(
