Hey fellow box-watchers...

Did anyone else not recognise the flashback to the ep where SG-1 went to
the "united nations" place, where the four races meet up and discuss
universal security?

I don't think I've missed an ep of Stargate yet, but I can't remember
anything about how language was broken down into its most basic elements so
that anyone could understand everyone else. Plus the light-show with the
Hydrogen and other atoms was pretty cool... kinda reminded me of the
holographic projection of mutant DNA infected with the Legacy Virus in Dr
Moira MacTaggert's lab from the X-Men (but anyway...).

I think Daniel came up with that flashback (since he made the big
break-through in figuring out what all the lights meant). There also seemed
to be someone there with them who knew what the place was about... he told
'MacGyver' to touch the thingy in the center (which looked like a mini
version of the Gate's rotary-dialer), which started the whole light show.

Also there was writing on the wall, four different hieroglyph styles by my
count, obviously from the four allied races, the Asgard, Nox, Furling, and
the Ancients. Like I said, I can't remember seeing this ep (if I ever did),
but I would assume that these four scripts could be the key to unlock the
languages of the four great races... kind of like an inter-galactic Rosetta
Stone ...and that would mean lots of information for the SCG.

So, my point is, was this episode ever aired? If yes, then how long ago? Or
was it a smaller part in another ep?

Thaks for your time ppl.

Yep.... Can't remember the name off the top of my head, but it is available in the
season 1 videos that have been released. The story was a rescue mission of a bloke
who went through the gate back in the 1940's before being stranded there after the
gate closes... It was Catherines boyfriend that was lost, so they brought her back
in. It was a goodish episode.

on him =)

It was called the Torment of Tantalus - or something like that.

This all happened in the first season episode "THE TORMET OF TANTALUS".
"THE TORMENT OF TANTALUS" would of aired in '97 or '98, being the
twelfth episode of the season. You can catch the episode on the 1.5
video cassette if you wish to see it.
