"The Nine Network today announced it had severed ties with Wide World Of
Sports commentator Steve Roach.
The decision, effective immediately, follows an internal inquiry by the
Network into recent incidents involving Roach.
Roach joined the Nine Network in 1993 as a sideline commentator for its
rugby league broadcasts and in 1994 joined The Footy Show as a regular
panelist."

This comes on the heels of the ousting of former Seven Net sports jock Neil
Brooks from Seven Nightly News and Olympic Team, because of personal
misconduct. It once again highlights that anyone in the industry,
particularly in the anchor or co-anchor chair, needs to be squeaky squeaky
clean.
It's a wonder 'Blocka' lasted this long, regularly socialising with players,
particularly in the off season when they get board, they do some quite
questionable things.
Mike.
who knows the folks at the Daily Telegraph are laughing as they never have
before.

Tell us more about Tim Smith!

I'm not so sure that people get dropped so quickly because of misconduct.
Mick Molloy was welcome at Channel 9. Tim Smith is a psycho in real life
and worked for years on Comedy Company/Tonight Live. Sam Newman has been
in trouble, but people love him for it.
I often wonder whether the producers want to get rid of people, then use
'misconduct' as a scapegoat reason for doing so. So as to seem
professional, but not unfair, in achieving their goals.
> It's a wonder 'Blocka' lasted this long
More because he's a blockhead than because of any specific 'misconduct'.
I just don't think he would have been a long-term proposition for Nine,
and if they realised that, it would have weighed far more heavily than
anything else.
Richard.
Saintly, even, one would think...
Or at the very least, Beadman. ;)

Tim Smith is definitely not a psycho. He's just a funny guy..! He's also
completely normal and sensible, and if you're going to call him a psycho
you're going to have to prove it!
