No the whole point of a story like that is to get sympathy
and hopefully (donations) from the public to ease the
plight of the "victim" or to shame the company into letting
them off the hook......
We didn't get that story here in SA but were instead treated
to a story about a guy that has collected junk in his front
yard, his back yard, and even conned neighbours into using
their sheds......

Sad but true. A friend of mine has three teenage (13-18) sons who during
one weekend of being left to "mind the house" managed to rack up about
$6000's worth of calls to strange numbers in Belize and various other
places. They denied all knowledge initially but fessed up and are still
paying it off. They lost some other rights and privileges too.

Not a bad idea. Seriously. PINs in cars to counter theft is a good idea!
Unfortunately, somebody put a PIN in the internet bubble a couple of
