Thoughts people?

Before you buy.
I have been busy all day so don't know for sure what is going on but
if it was in the hun its probably a massive beat up(excuse the pun).
Hi Ed,
Yeah, well since I posted this message, it was indeed a massive beat
up. As per usual, the journalistic integrity of the Herald Sun came
into question with the story being completely false. Apparently, Doug
only pushed his wife and did NOT bash her. They have apparently made up
and the intervention order or proposed intervention order that his wife
proposed, has been dropped. I reckon the two journalists who reported
the story, should lose their jobs. However, I still think you should
never ever touch your wife and that includes pushing her.
Cheers
i'd wait until he was actually found guilty. these days when couples split
the first thing they do is claim the other was violent and get court
orders... their dirty lawyers seem to think it helps get more money in the
divorce settlement.
tomorrow we may see him making the same claim against his wife
hehehe

The thing is settled now of course. It was a just a pure beat up. Bad
journalism really at fault.

then all bets are off

yup, make sure you have ALL the facts before condeming ppl.

If ya read my second post, you would know it's a beat up. Doug never
bashed his wife at all. It was the stupidity of the melbourne press
that caused this. However, I still believe you should never lay a hand
on your wife period.

despite whether people should lay hands on their wives or not, did we
really need to know this? If dougie did this or not, what's it to us?
And you showed a lot of interest in bagging dougie when you thought it
was true. Maybe the melbourne press isn't as stupid after all.
Yeah true, I think I over reacted a bit. Shows I got sucked in by the
Melbourne press.

Yeah your right but I just can stand wife bashers( and of course
Dougie is not of them juding by the love for his wife). I hate them

Dont you think those 2 journos should be sacked immediately for writing
what was untrue?
Cheers

:Actually I don't think they should. Everyone makes mistakes. And
Mistakes of that nature can affect a person for the rest of his life.
Journalists should be held to higher standards and yes they should be
sacked.

Agree with you Ian. Journalists are expected to get their facts
straight and on many occasions they dont. Dougie should take the Herald
Sun to the cleaners on this because it is just crap journalism
Yep, but on most occasions the Herald Sun melbourne doesnt. Their
reputation as Melbourne's leading paper is going down the drain.

It is crap journalism. Probably someone have had an agenda against Doug
somewhere.
They will

My word they will.

Not that I have lived in Melbourne for a few years but when *did* the
Herald Sun have a reputation as Melbourne's leading paper?
Regards,
High priest in the cult of Diogenes.
I'm a bit late for this thread but I just wanted to defend the Herald-Sun.
People are accusing it of misreporting a story over Doug Hawkins.
I'm the first to say that the quality of Australian journalism is rubbish,
but the Herald-Sun did not misreport anything. We know the following:
- His wife alleged that he pushed her and punched her
- His wife sought a restraining order against him
- He had been drinking at the time of the incident (he admits this)
All of the above is true. The case goes to court today, where it is
believed she will drop the application.
I can understand two people having a falling out and later making up, but
don't accuse the Herald-Sun of misrepresentation, and don't think that
Hawkins is necessarily innocent of punching his wife.
Later on, the two did the obligatory 'happy family' photograph and TV
cameos. It is clear that something has been put right, which went wrong
in the first place.
Damn me if this isn't in the public interest. Father of the Year indeed.

Not in my opinion
