They tell us everything has to be check as some nasty could ruin out
ecosystem and native plant and animal life.
Even on the border security show they spend a lot of the time showing
people getting fines for bringing different food stuffs into the country.
So what do you think about these ships sitting off the Central Coast
(NSW) loading up tens of thousands of litres of water from a foreign
port as ballast then when it comes time for loading in the Port of
Newcastle they dump this water within 2km of the shore. Wouldn't this
water contain pollutants and often sea animals from the port the water
was pumped from? They would then dump this and this water would wash
into the lake systems along the coast.
Do you believe there should be a law against dumping of this ballast so
close to shore? Maybe an environmental body could take samples of this
water as it is being pumped out and check to see what is in it.

Enough with the questions already.
Sylvia.
Didn't Hobart waters get a swarm of a starfish that was thought to be pumped
from a foreign ship's ballast water?
That's a very American turn of phrase isn't it? Are you from the USA? Are
you ant?

Who is he? Was he the one that wrote Walkabout?
Are you asking ant is she is from the US of A or are you asking if Ms
Else is the poster known as ant, PT?

The Northern Pacific Seastar is established in Tasmania and likely from
there spread to Port Phillip Bay (Vic), both times thought to be via
ballast water.
