Perhaps the two blocks of movies could be put together. Perhaps general
entertainment channels should have the 3 to 6 slot, making 1 to 10 all
general entertainment. Perhaps SBS shouldn't be on 28.

Or perhaps Foxtel could bring back the personal preference for arranging
channels as one of the advanced options from the menu. We used to have it,
along with the option of deleting channels from the EPG that you either did
not receive or had no interest in, and I've never heard a satisfactory
explanation of why it was removed (although I suspect that the helpline was
getting bugged by the number of subscribers who could not figure out how it
worked). I know I used to have the movie channels first, then sports, then
T.V., then documentary, then news. The kid's channels were deleted, along
with those I did not subscribe to and those that were reserved. Definitely
made channel surfing a lot easier.

I think that's crap. If you're smart enough to work out where to go in the
first place to start re arranging channels. Then surely the same person
could just hit the "reset channels to default" option.
Personally I think it's just a Marketing ploy to FORCE everyone to scroll
through all channels, hence reminding us what we may be missing out on, if
not subscribed to all channels.
To me this really stinks. My old Pace box was "upgraded" to a new UEC box.
But as Foxtel see fit to cripple useful features, it's now a downgrade, and
real pain to boot.
I ended up spending hours re programming my Pronto remote to skip channels
through software screens on the remote. But it's a less than ideal solution.
Maybe if enough people post on this, we can email some of these threads to
Foxtel and try to demonstrate how many would like this feature returned.

You seem to be suggesting that there are several grades of movie channel,
some of which NEED to be placed alongside FTA and then others which need to
be placed at the end of the list ?
I suppose World Movies is for "other" people.

The categories are based more on Foxtel's packages rather than genres. Which
would mean changing the channel numbers when Foxtel changes it's packages,
something they'd be loath to do.
Wheras, allocating a block of ten channels to a genre wouldn't require this
(ie 20-29 could be sport).

a) it makes troubleshooting problems easier
b) some channels have their channel numbers as apart of their contract
[such as TV1]
