To all University of Queensland, St Lucia students in Brisbane,

Do you have old computer parts and software left over from upgrades etc? Want to
get them
sold sooner?

I myself have been finding it hard to find 2nd hand parts and selling off old
items.

I am thinking of creating a UQ forsale marketing and bulletin style ad that will
be posted
around UQ, on a web page on the net and also in the UQ and other newsgroups. It
will be called the "UQ Markets" web page

It will cost you nothing to subscribe to this advertisement as such. It is free
for UQ, students to use.

All I need is for you to email me and list all the computer parts and software
you want to
sell or get rid of. Please separate software and hardware forsale in your
email.

Exactly what I need in the descriptions are as followings

Most important your contact details, email address and contact phone number is
compulsory.
The phone number does not need to be advertised if you tell me so, it is only
for me to
contact you if any problems do arise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the item is hardware:

I need to know the brand name, model and price you got for it and how much you
are selling
it for.

How old it is?

Is there any warranty as such?

Where you bought it?

If you prefer pickup, you can deliver, or would prefer to meet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If it is software:

The minimum operating requirements

Operating system it can run on i.e. Win 95, Win 3.1, Mac, Others

Price you got it for and how much you are selling it for?

How old it is?

Is there any warranty as such?

Where you bought it?

If you prefer pickup, you can deliver, or would prefer to meet.

I will do the following:

1. Categorize and code the list of items of all UQ students emailing me.
2. Create a paper version of the list and codes and post them around UQ on all
the notice
boards
3. Create a web page version on the net
4. Post and advertise the web page version in the newsgroups
5. Email each UQ student subscriber to my free service a copy of this list or
you can check out the updated web page version after 12 am -midnight the next
day or two after emailing me the items forsale.

Note: This service is aimed at providing a central location for all UQ students
to sell
their old computer stuff and when someone does see something they like they will
contact
you and deal directly with you. I am in no way involved.

Act now and email me soon, I have created a template html file for the web page
version, and once I get enough items to fill up 1/4 of the page I will create
the paper version and post it around UQ. Hopefully I will get something posted
up in the next couple of weeks.

However, note it is the Christmas holidays so the sale of your items will be
slow over this summer break. But, the more people who spread the word around
Brisbane about "UQ Markets", then by the time Uni starts again, "UQ Markets"
will hopefully become a common place to look at student's computer items
forsale. If it becomes very popular, I might open up other items for sale. i.e.
electronic, textbooks, student accommodation etc.

Email: George at sing...@mailbox.uq.edu.au or sing...@uq.net.au with UQ
Markets as the subject

or ring me on 041 146 3727 between 1:30 pm - 11:30 pm any day during the summer
break. Contact hrs will change once Uni resumes. Leave a message if I can not
be reached.

P.S. As another reminder. Once you do email me with your items I will place it
on:

1. The web page version of UQ Markets on the internet- every night at 12 am an
update will occur- if my web page server is okay.
2. The paper draft copy ready to be posted once a fortnight or weekly at UQ
noticeboards - depending on the number of entries.
3, My own computer hard disk version of the web page
