This isnt meant to be political. It's merely a heads up if you havent
been worded up, or seen the press.

Victorian Police have changed the rules regarding transportation of
firearms and ammo.

http://www.firearmscouncil.org.au/index.php/2015/11/19/police-change-rules-on-transportation-of-guns-and-ammo/

It it to note that even though they have every name and address of legal
firearms owners in the State, they choose *not* to tell you of these
changes. My licence is up for renewal soon, at a cost to me of around
$250. For that, I get nothing. Not even notification that the goal posts
have been moved. And I imagine if i hadnt found out about the changes, I
stand to lose my firearms because of my "ignorance".

Look into that what you will.

There are further rumblings that the storage of Cat A and B firearms
will be tightened. A school locker (made of steel, bolted to the wall of
your garage and locked with a hasp and staple and padlock, will no
longer be good enough. Although it was, and currently still is.

Vicpol are filthy about *stolen firearms*. Firearms that they said were
stored good enough as above. The police are now apparently demanding
a proper gunsafe, bolted to the wall as minimum, and apparently the laws
will be changed again shortly, and again, without us being told, making
the purchase of a safe mandatory.

The following is my opinion only...

Seems to me that the Police are worrying about something they can
control, and not something they cant. Once again, the legal firearms
owner gets the short straw. I personally have a metal locker for a
couple of 12g shottys, a couple of .22's and a .223. I've done all the
police have asked, and now it seems it's not good enough. I have taken
the next step and bought a safe, and modified it so it needs two keys
and an oxy/acetylene set, and probably 4 hours to get into it.

This is being foisted on us by the lack of checking on shipping
containers. It used to be 3 in every 100 containers pulled for checks,
it's now 1 in every 100. The containers are leaving Sydney full of
stolen cars, and returning with firearms (pistols) stuffed inside
some imported goods. You can figure out the destination....

So, again , just a heads up. Watch the Vicpol website.. currently the
vicpol website is down.... suprise...

And a big rumour going round is all lever action firearms are to be
moved into Cat "C" shortly. it may be just that, but we've seen how
the govt reacts to legal fireamrm owners.

Seasons Greets, all...

Oh, forgot to add, primary producers will only be permitted to own ONE
Cat "C" firearm...

I hope I'm wrong... but the gossip has came from a licenced firearms
dealer...

If the above is true, hasn't this got all blown out of proportion?
