James Cameron is set to explore the deepest point of the ocean to film
footage for his Avatar sequel.
The filmmaker has decided to set the follow-up to his hit blockbuster
beneath the waves - and he's commissioning engineers to build a special
vessel to travel 10,972m to the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the western
Pacific.
The two-seater submersible will be fitted with a heating system and 3D
cameras to capture pictures of the depths for the movie, expected to hit
theatres in 2014.
ps the sub is being built in Aus, hope they do a better job than on our
Collins class boats

Best dived surface supplied. Gonna take a couple of large EMD
locomotives (~6000 bhp each) to spin the compressor though.
Call it 16000 psi for rough numbers. Very nasty things happen at
those pressures.

That's a joke son, a joke.
BUT, if we're going the cartoon route:
Oh, that makes me so mad.
Knew a guy who could do the voice.

That's it. It was on the Pili Kai, one of the divemasters who I have
long since forgotten (but I can remember every one of the bikini clad
DMs)
So what did you do to make him so very, very angry?
Or not.

OK not my best
I didn't. But one of the other guys dropped his belt while trying to
get out of the water. Appatently (this was our first day, his third)
not the first time. He was given a refund for the next two days and
told to find someone else. And he was a scary guy to dive with. Glad
he had a buddy and I had to buddy up with Sharon, the "bikini clad
DM".
