People of a certain age will be smiling indulgently at the kids in the
media waffling on about THAT spear tackle that is, according to some
"pundits", allegedly the "worst ever".

I've seen many much worse, in both Rugby and League, and I will be
very disappointed if he gets more than a couple of weeks.

Anyone who was at Seiffert Oval back in the Raiders' early days will
recall their then full-back, Alan McMahon, making certainly the worst
spear tackle, by far - with daylight a long distance second - that
I've ever seen. It was so bad that the whole crowd reacted with
shocked disgust. Even in those much more tolerant days McMahon was
instantly sent off.

Yep, I think the fact that Inu didn't drive through the tackle saved him
from being a spectator. Biggest issue is that nowadays players are 100kg
plus and that is really harsh on your skeletal system if you come down
at the wrong angle.

It was certainly a bad tackle though and deserves at least 3 - 4 weeks
for the lifting between the legs.

The one's I'm a little disbelieving of are the Thaiday and Cartwright
likely suspensions for daring to give the refs shirts a little tug.
In Thaiday's case the ref should have been blowing a penalty where the
scrum took place as he was definitely deliberately held back to allow
the gap that Slater went through.

I think it's time that ref's got fined for making bad decisions and 4 of
them showed they had no concept of fair play in that decision.

unfortunately the ref's are a protected species.

And a vindictive one.
The Cows just don't seem to have had any luck with the refs since JT's
entanglement with one.
