But what became of the cars? Where is Brock's Monze and Grice's
Corvair? Where are the all the other old S/S's and GTs?
Old Tourers, old openwheelers and old sports cars seem to be cherished.
(And a radiator cap seems sufficient basis for a ground up restoration
of a complete car!)
Anyone know?

Brock's Monza (actually it was Bob Janes) was sold to Bryan Thomson and
reskinned as a Toyota Supra which is still a top car for Des Wall.
As for the corvair I don't know but remember that a Lola F5000 died to
build that car and perhaps it was broken up for parts.

The historic movement is looking at a class for old Sports sedans in fact
Bryan Thomson has bought back his old VW Chev which is just waiting for
somewhere to run. trouble is so many of the current top cars would are
historics anyway. Montoroso, Trenoweth, Riccadelo's and Walls cars are all
over 10 years old.
Thank god for the "new" Calibras.

Thanks for the info Brett. As an aside, the shell of the 2E car I
crewed fro in the early 90s was at the 69 bathurst! Another
neo-historic

So somewhere someone has a Lola 5000 chassis & body minus uprights,
engine and box?

One of those Calibras is an old Cortina with a Calibra shell! Not Graham
Smith's or Mark Stinson's cars.

Jim Richards Big M Falcon Cobra from this era was purchased and run by
Greg Hubbard from Tasmania many years ago from memory. Anyone know
where his Sidchrome Mustang is now??

The 1977 Bathurst winning XC Falcon is at the Ford Museum in Geelong,
That guy in Brisbane (forget his name offhand) has Moffats Mustang and
a fair few other well know Fords - Moffats Phase 3, Longhursts Sierra.
Isn't Brocks A9X Torana at the Bathurst Museum?? what else is there??
Dick Johnson has a few of his cars, The Bathurst winning XD, and I
think one of the Greens Tuf XE's and his Bathurst winning Sierra.
One of the 2 Greens Tuf Mustangs is here in WA somewhere - used to be
tucked away in a petrol station on Wanneroo road!! and Brocks Mobil
Sierra is here too.

Actually it was Tony Hubbard from Victoria who had Jims old Falcon, he now
has a Calibra but I don't know if any parts from the Falcon have gone into
that.
As for Jim's Mustang I'll try to remember to ask him when he's on In Pit
Lane on Tuesday night.

Yeah, I'm sure I've seen both of those cars at Wanneroo in the past year or
so.

What's the history of the car? Have you got any plans for it?

what's in the museum varies a lot - while the museum owns a few cars,
most are lowned and the collection swells just before the enduro season
commences. I year's past I've seen a Bob Morris Toyota Corolla (late
60's) and XU1, Brock's 1979 A9X, a replica Bruce McPhee 1968 HK Monaro

Certainly were/are two cars. One is spaceframe, one monocoque.
Not sure what happened to the spaceframe car - I think Brian McCarthy
bought it.
One should also note that the body work on the old car went through
several iterations as the S/Sedan rules changed.

Its Tony Hubbard driving the Calibra which is based on an old Capri chassis.
It was originally in the hands of Norm Pirozzi in Queensland. It was one of
the three built by Rinberg Engineering here in Sydney and dispolayed at the
Motor Show in Darling Harbour a couple of years ago (with the Momo livery).
Ron O'Brien has both of Colin Bond's Caltex Sierras. One is now running in
the O'Brien green and gold in the National Sports Sedan Series with a Chev
engine, the other is still in original livery under wraps.
Peter
One of Brock's Mobil 05 Sierras was once owned by Neville Davis, a Central
Coast clothing store proprietor here in NSW. It had a run here last year in
Sports Sedans when it was owned by the GM of OAMPS, Robert Porter who also
ran it at the AROCA 6Hour last year (I think). Not sure if this is the same
car but the one above was genuine and carried original signage.
Also I know Herbert Gattermeier of Bavariacars here in Sydney has one of the
Richards' space frame BMW Sports Sedans. It is being restored by Herbert and
his son at their workshop in Gladesville. I have seen the frame and whilst
it was in a bad way it was coming along. Apparently Herbet got it after it
was sitting in a barn somewhere for many years (hence the condition) and the
owner wanted to get rid of it. Most of the mechanicals were still there but
the body was *RS*.
Victorian Bill Emeny's original Mazda R100 is now running in Sports Sedans
here in NSW, owned by Warren Aubin, and raced by Steve Shiels, a Bathurst
Driver Training instructor.

Woops, yes my mistake, it was a long time ago, very early 80's I
think, I also seem to remember Hubbard running it with a Chev
engine???

This isn't the old Palazzo Falcon Sports Sedan is it, the last time I
saw it was painted red (mid 80's).

ummm.... i think the 10 year old Ricciardello car you are referring to is
actually the previous incarnation.... now owned by Joe Riccardo (who also owns
Alfie Costanzo's old Lola) the current Ricciardello car is (i think) under 5
years...

He has definately had 2, I wouldn't be surprised if he has built more
than that though, he's been running them since the early 80's.

I was at Bathurst in 97. there was a very convincing Brock '72 Bathurst
car/replica in original colours at the Bathurst Museum for the weekend.

Very convincing replica in Adelaide, I think I remember reading about the
original being for sale in Tasmania in the late 70s.
>1978 Brock/Richards Holden Torana LX A9X - unknown
This one starts HEAPS of arguments. The Brock 78 Bathurst car became the
Harvey/Harrop car in 1979. Ron stuck it over a concrete barrier at bathurst,
and busted it severely. It is said that it was rebuilt, but shit it was a
mess - diff torn out, front end skewed sideways, ect. There is a small bit
of footage of it on the Holden 30 years in racing video - see what you
reckon.
>1979 Brock/Richards Holden Torana LX A9X - Brock owned it until 1993

Currently owned by Dave Bowden in Qld. Not in Bathurst 1979 trim though. It
was used by Jim Richards in NZ (?) after Bathurst '79, now has different
rims, engine, some signage - needs a tidy up - don't shoot me if you reckon
I'm wrong.

Took 'em a while to come back with a one two at Bathurst. I reckon the one
in the Museum is Harvey's car, repainted as '05'. I have heard the the
original '05' went to the UK.

Looking very tidy too. I saw it at Phillip Island earlier this year.

On the weekend I saw Dave Bowden's latest acquisition at the Leyburn
Historic sprints - a gen-you-wine Ford GT40!!! All $800,000 plus worth
of motor car. Brilliant! Still in original Gulf colours, with German
markings, only been in the country around two weeks apparently.
Was driven by Kevin Bartlett. That's a car that could get anyone out of
retirement - man that thing is sex on wheels!

seems such a shame that only 24 of Bathurst's 40 winning cars from it's

The one he drives is the car driven by Bosnjak that slammed into a Commodore
and ruptured its fuel bladder in 1992. It may even have been an OXO Sierra
originally, the first built by/for Colin Bond.
The one in the Museum has unkonwn origins as far as Ron is concerned.
