BBC to regain F1 rights?
From 2005 [16/10/02 - 01:01]
ccording to reports in British newspaper the Daily Mail, the BBC network is
preparing to bring Formula One back to its network after an absence of six
years. After losing the rights to ITV in 1997, the BBC is willing to offer
175 million pounds to have the show returned to them from the 2005 season.
Despite the news that television ratings for Formula One are dropping
worldwide, the BBC are looking at the sport to boost their sports department
after losing out on obtaining coverage for the Champions League. Many
viewers would prefer to see the sport returned to the BBC and with the added
collapse of ITV's Digital network, there is a good chance of this happening.
Meanwhile, Australian viewers will have to wait a little longer to find out
who will be bringing them the series next season after television networks
in the country hold off making any formal announcements. At the end of the
Japanese GP coverage, Darryl Eastlake, commentator for the program, only
stated that he 'hoped' to be there next year, while Channel Ten claim that
they are still negotiating. Latest 15 stories, here...BAR looking to a
