Can anyone confirm EXACTLY what the television arrangements are for the
forth-coming Ashes cricket tour?

In the last few weeks there has been much discussion in the newsgroups but
much of it has been rumour (eg that the ABC will show the first session).

Here's my understanding of the situation:

1. Channel Seven hold the rights but they are not going to show the first
session (a la Channel 9 in previous years).
2. The first session has been offered to ABC and SBS but they are NOT going
to show it.
3. The first session will be shown on C7 sport (ie the "normal" C7 sport
channel - channel 23 on Austar).
4. C7 Blue (channel 19 on Austar) will be showing all of the cricket on a
pay-per-view basis ($19.95 for the three month tour).

If anyone can clarify this, I would be most grateful.

Thanks,

Wombat

Nope. bit mixed up there wombat.

C7 Sport (Gold ) Currently on Austar will NOT show any LIVE Australian One
Day cricket. C7 Gold will show only show the first session of the match on
the 12th June LIVE Eng vs Pak

C7 Sport (Blue) Not on Austar but available at 19.95 Will only show the
first session of the one day cricket LIVE and will not show the Whole
Match.

So what happends to us Perth viewers? Do we only get to see the 3rd
session and thats it?

First session starts at 6pm WST so they arent going to show any of
that. Second session starts at 8:40pm WST and I doubt theyll show any
of that either seeing as its prime time here in the west.

I was really hoping that C7 would be on foxtel before the ashes
started so I'd be able to watch the cricket.

You're only hope is if C7 delays the telecast, so you get to start
watching
the second session at 10.30pm. But seeing you're an England supporter,
it might be better for your mental health if you see *less* of the
cricket.
Might save you crying incessantly and so forth :-)

Thursday 7 June

First one dayer - England v Pakistan D/N
Live all sessions on channel 7

11/11.30pm to 7am

Saturday 9 June

Second one dayer - Pakistan v Australia (day)
Live all sessions starting at 9pm (following Live Rugby at 6.30 in NSW/QLD)
Interesting to see whether AFL takes precedence in the other states.

Sunday 10 June

England v Australia (day)
also likely to be all sessions live from 8.30pm

Don't know bout the other one dayers but tests are likely to start with the
second session at 10.30pm. (All EST)

I'd heard that they will.
