IN ELECTRONS
Monissa Whiteley notes that Elysian Fiction
http://www.elysianfiction.com has one of her stories and one by
Robert Stephenson. "The debut issue has some good fantasy stories -
just the tonic for this reader who'd become jaded with what is
usually passed off of fantasy in the so called science fiction &
fantasy publications."
Ion Newcombe notes that AntipodeanSF 40 is available on the net. "At
the site you'll find the fully featured version of AntipodeanSF,
along with optional text-based HTML, and two palm computing device
formats that can be downloaded. AntipodeanSF includes our first ever
audio fiction as read by the author" Australian stories are: "The
Visitor" Garry Dean; "Pharlap Revisited" Edwina Harvey; "The Quiet
Mystery" Craig Parravicini: "Third Birthday" Edgar Crook; "Christmas
Presence" Brent Lillie. http://www.antisf.com

EIDOLON SITENEWS STUFF
The latest Eidolon Sitenews notes, among other things:
Hoa Pham, author of Vixen (Hodder Headline), has been honoured by The
Sydney Morning Herald as one as one of three Young Novelists of the
Year.
Altair Australia Literary Agency reports their recent sale of Tony
Shillitoe's new Fantasy series Ashuak Chronicles to HarperCollins'
Voyager Australia. Blood, Book 1 of the series, has been tentatively
scheduled for a March 2002 release.
AUSTRALIAN GENRE BOOK DESIGN AWARD PRESENTED
Jonathan Strahan notes "The eighteenth annual Australian
Publisher's Association Design Awards were presented at the Darling
Harbour Convention Centre, Sydney on Wednesday 20 June 2001, as part
of the 2001 APA Australian Book Fair. For the first time the awards
included a category for the design of fantasy and science fiction
books. The winner for Best Designed Fantasy & Science Fiction Book
was Richard Harland's Ferren and the Angel. The other nominated books
were Hoa Pham's Vixen, and Sophie Masson's The Green Prince. The
award, sponsored by Galaxy Bookshop, was $A1,000, which was presented
to the book's designer."
CONTEST
Simon Haynes writes "I'm posting this for a fellow
sandgroper, and an SF author like myself. Neil's running a simple
contest on his web page, and the winner gets a copy of his latest
novel. So far he's only had a few entries, so the chances of winning
aren't as bad as, say, being the second tourist to visit the
international space station. The URL is
http://www.wn.com.au/clubclad/erebus/contest.htm"
FAN FUNDS
Eric Lindsay reports "Well, thanks to Jean having some time
on her hands while helping out at her mother's place, she managed to
add some of the photos from the digital camera to our GUFF trip
report web site. She has also done a few cleanups of the text,
although obviously a lot more needs to be done to fix all the errors
I introduced in my first draft. http://psiphi.server101.com/guff.
Still, I'm pretty happy about being able to get something available
about GUFF so close in time to our return (Jean won't even be back
for another week). This is particularly so now that we are moving
GUFF to an annual event. Paul Kincaid is even now looking for
British or European fans to stand as candidates to attend the
National Science Fiction Convention in Melbourne, Australia in June
2002, and probably also the New Zealand National Convention the
previous week"
Jean notes that the GUFF site is now at
http://www.ericlindsay.com/guff/
Janice Gelb announces "The North American DUFF administration duties
have now been officially handed over to Patrick Molloy & Naomi
Fisher. The DUFF web site http://home.pacbell.net/jgelb/duff2k.html
has been updated and includes contact information for the new
administrators for checks, donations, etc., plus a financial report
as of February 28.I am pleased to hand over the reins to the new
administration and am sure they will do a wonderful job."
