Myrmecolacids are curious creatures. For one thing, these
parasites extend -- rather than shorten -- the lives of their hosts.
"The males can extend their hosts' lives by a third more of their
life cycle. And the females can extend it even more, sometimes
twice more," Kathirithamby told UPI from Italy. "How they keep
their hosts going is something we would like to answer."
