Does anyone know of any Scifi reading clubs that operate in Sydney?
The kind where a group of people decide that they'll all read a certain
book recommended by a group member, then meet again in a couple of weeks
time to discuss it?
I know that Galaxy Bookshop used to run this kind of thing a couple of
years ago, but they don't anymore.
Any details, hints, please let me know!

Been a long time since I was in Sydney, but I expect some
contacts are still available to help seek such groups.
Graham Stone may still use this address:
The Australian Science Fiction Association
GPO Box 4440
Sydney 2001
Can probably point you to some other groups or people (and has an
encyclopedic knowledge of older SF).
The Futurian Society of Sydney
which meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Friday each month
at Room 1615, 16th Floor, Tower Building,
University of Technology, Sydney
15 Broadway
might still be running, but probably need some organising to
actually all read the same book.
Another potential one is
Collins Superstore
Level 2, Broadway Shopping Centre , Cnr Broadway ad Bay St,
Sydney.
Leigh Blackmore in Sydney. Leigh is also interested in hearing
from fan groups who may want to use the store's Banjo Patterson
Room for meetings. (Reported by Ted Scribner in Bullsheet)
You should probably contact Edwina Harvey or Ted Scribner and get
on the (free) email list for Bullsheet.
The Australian Science Fiction Bullsheet
ISSUE 13 - APRIL 2003
ISSN 1445-4319 (print version), ISSN 1445-4327 (online version)
NOTE: This e-zine is compiled and edited by Edwina Harvey but is
dispatched by Ted Scribner from his own email address. Please
address all correspondence regarding it to edwinafan at yahoo.com
I believe there was a discussion group at Parramatta
Infinitas Science Fiction and Fantasy Bookshop
5/1 Horwood Place, Parramatta, and is a small, pleasant bookish
shop. Phone (02) 633 5682 email infi...@bigpond.com. They
have regular meetings on Thursday, starting at 7 pm.
Those are mostly taken from one of my web pages, but as I've been
away from Sydney for 5 years, I wouldn't expect them all to still
be active.
Good luck with it. (Updates on clubs and groups are most
welcome).

There was one that spun off the Futurians SF discussion group but it
faded awaytwo years ago. It may have been resurrected, (I've been out
of Sydney) and even if it hasn't then it might resurrect itself if one
person said they wanted it to. Try Ian Woolf iwo...@socs.uts.edu.au
(he may put you on to Peter Eisler).
