Well that fucks your "mercenary" story.
The Brits on are on woeful conditions of service (as are the yanks) compared
to deployed ADF members.
Clearly, money wasn't his motivation. Serving most obviously was. Seeing as
the ADF is deployed in such limited numbers in fairly restrictive trade
groups. Potentially, if he'd joined the ADF instead of the British Army, he
could have had to wait years to get a tour, if at all.
Seems this bloke was far more of an idealist and truly professional soldier
than you can comprehend.
