Amazingly, all plans for 25 Feb have now been cancelled by QR, apparently due
to the current political uncertainty in Queensland. Today's Gold Coast
Bulletin reported that the line will now open without fanfare on Monday 26
Feb, although free breakfasts would be provided at stations.

WELL THAT'S JUST GREAT! :-(

But I must ask, *what* "political uncertainty" is there "in
Queensland"? It is DEFINATE that Lobor is OUT and the coalition is
IN!

I would not be surprised if there was another reason.

And to whoever it was that thought to do this, THANKS A LOT! You have
just stuffed-up my comin Sunday's plan of events. This line opening
on Sunday was to be my first. I can't make it on weekdays and get a
free, piss-weak breakfast. There HAS to be a formal, special opening!
Doesn't there???

GREAT!!! OH, JUST GREAT!

This mornings Gold Coast Bulletin announced that they have negotiated a train with QR to run on the Sunday. No times are given.

Originally, QR apparently would not allow any fan tours as they said no paths
were available with a 30 min service on the single line (Ormeau -
Helensvale). Another problem is that platform heights match door heights
exactly - a first in Queensland - and this would preclude heritage coaching
stock from using the line. Stainless steel suburban sets would apparently be
OK, though. Now that there will be no 30 min service till the following day,
I presume 1009 could in fact run (had there been sufficient time for
advertising etc.)

Believe me, there's always more to a story than at first meets the eye!!

I guess the old saying is true "never believe what you read in the press"

This train was JUST negotiated OR WAS IT!!

I have just watched IMUs 102+103 depart Helensvale at 4.29pm empty cars
for Brisbane after bringing prizewinners in a GC Bulletin newspaper
competition from Sth Brisbane. Passengers were sent by bus to Brisbane
to catch the train.

Although regular services do not start until tomorrow, the TVMs (ticket
vending machines) were in operation, and I was able to purchase a student
weekend single ticket to Coomera, the next station, for 45c. Not bad
having a ticket dated before there are any public sercices to catch.
