December 16 is 9 days before Christmas (as it was last year!) and
people take that "once a year" trip into the city by Public Transport
to do their Christmas Shopping.

One would think that this would be an opportunity to impress these
passengers and maybe get some return business, but can Mr Connex
please tell me how you are going to impress anybody when you run 3
carriage trains during one of the busy times of the year, and have
people hanging out the window.

It was really nice Mr Connex when we went past Camberwell Station (and
Ringwood...and Bayswater) and saw all those nice trains sitting empty
in the sidings, at least I assume they were sitting there...it was
quite hard to see anything apart from the armpit of that guy who seems
to never wear deodorant (does he follow me around, or is there more
than one of them??)

Mr Connex, you have got to do more basic things to get more passengers
then paint your trains and give yourself a name change.

(Does anybody know what amount of cost savings they get from running 3
carriage sets, and the reasons they give for doing so?)

It's also a very good time of year to terminate all Burnley Group services
at Flinders Street, instead of running around the loop (as is the case on
Sunday 17 December).

...the smashed window on my Hitachi on Wednesday afternoon prevented any
armpit smell whatsoever funking out the carriage...

Call 131638. Hearing someone say "uh...um, sorry OK" will fix EVERYTHING :)

Same applied to Bayside Trains. How stupid are they?

No wonder the shops in the city aren't as crowded as places like Chadstone
(I sampled both on Saturday).

Plus Connex should have expected loads more people on Saturday as 50,000
people walked through the Citylink Burnley tunnel and popped out at Burnley.

PS. http://www.connexmelbourne.com.au/ Click FAQs/Contact Connex and have a
rant. Let's see if they get back you within 24 hours like they say they
will. I'm having a go at them now, and will do Bayside after that.

That also have something to do with people these days prefer to shop at
suburban shopping centers(Northland, Doncaster,highpoint, Southland
etc) rather then city. Suburban shops mostly are cleaner, brighter and
more spacious, and safer.

People also rush into places like Willamstown on the weekend but
generally Bayside's Willamstown service are not very well patron. Maybe
a through Connex-Bayside train to Willamstown may help?

Maybe a direct Williamstown train from the city would help. Currently you
have to change at Newport. Perhaps they should extend back to Williamstown
pier, or somewhere else near the action, so you don't have to walk a
kilometre to the pier (I mean the passenger pier that's used on weekends).

Along those lines, how about suffering in a non air-conditioned train from
Parliament to Boronia last week when it was about 35 degrees while every
station we went past that could (i.e. Camberwell (??) and Bayswater) had
plenty of air conditioned trains sitting there doing sweet FA.

Those airconditioned trains were probably victims of the heat themselves.
Comeng's tend to shit themselves when it's over 30.

I got an e-mail back this afternoon from someone at leoburnett.com.au (no

The source code for the current form has:

Does that get forwarded to r.mor...@ptc.vic.gov.au and bounce?

Leo Burnett is a franchised advertising agency name. Sounds like the
initial complaint handling has been outsourced - hardly a good start to the
process because it makes one wonder if a non-employee would even know who
the appropriate person is.

"rmor...@connexmelboune.com.au" is in correct because it is missing
"r" in MelbouRne. Typo error?? Perhaps this will explain why the
message failed to deliver?

That's why it's such a pity the Harris trains have long gone... you
could open the doors at any time and get a great breeze blowing through
the car at speed, much nicer than aircon IMHO.

yeah, that was it, will try again with by direct email (not that they will

obviously they don't know what to do when they change email addresses!

That's short-changing amateurs! Sometimes amateurs do better than the
professionals - eg
your site + Chris Brownbill's + Meltrip versus the 'professional' Victrip!

Worth finding out.

Does anyone know the exact URL for the government site that supposedly
reveals (some of)
those contracts that were kept secret during the Kennett era? I think it
was talked about
on 3LO last week (they said that the big train and tram contracts were still
secret).

I'll try www.vic.gov.au as a starter and see what I get.

Thanks. Found no explicit mention of any contract for Victrip. But it
could be under
PTC IT outsourcing. Details not available because 'negotiations not
completed'. Maybe release
would cause embarassment!?

Any substantial amount of money having been handed over for Victrip would
cause embarassment... Well, if anybody noticed!
