Hi,

Is there a list anywhere on the web which shows which trains are given which
Countrylink codes, e.g. "WL-1", "ST-2", etc. Or if the list is short enough,
could someone type them out and post to aus.rail?

Thanks in advance,
Bradley.

WL1/2 Indian Pacific
WL3/4 The Ghan
WL27/28 Dubbo XPT

NT1/2 Brisbane XPT
NT3/4 Murwillumbah XPT
NP23/24 Moree/Armidale Xplorer (23a/24a between Werris Creek and Moree)
NT25/26 Grafton XPT

ST1/2 Overnight Melbourne XPT
ST3/4 Daylight Melbourne XPT
SP15/16 Griffith Xplorer
SP19/20 Morning Canberra Xplorer
SP21/22 Lunchtime Canberra Xplorer
SP23/24 Evening Canberra Xplorer

Odd numbers are away from Sydney, even towards Sydney. The "L" means diesel
loco haued (relevant a few years ago when some trains had electric locos),
the "T" indicates XPT, and the "P" indicates Xplorer.

Just remember that WL1 - WL4 are GSR, not CountryLink.

They are not GSR. They are SRA of NSW Network Working Timetable Computer
Codes.

I dont know that Countrylink use the operational codes to which you refer. The
Countrylink Public Timetable identifies the trains with "Service Numbers" as
follows:

Melbourne XPT 601, 602, 603, 604
(Former) Griffith train 605, 606
Canberra Xplorers 619, 620, 621, 622, 623, 624
Dubbo XPT 427, 428
(Former) Broken Hill train 429, 430
Brisbane XPT 001, 002
Murwillumbah XPT 003, 004
Grafton XPT 005, 006
Armidale Xplorer 223, 224
Moree Xplorer 225, 226

All buses get numbers too - but who cares?

The codes you referred to are for the reservations computer. Train control
and rostering all refer to the alpha-numeric codes.

E was used for electric loco hauled, and S is used for steam loco hauled.
