Folks,
I am looking for a small 'industrial' style n-4-n or n-6-n steam tank
loco for my layout that would be typical of early private railways ie
Krauss, Manning Wardle (like the NSW S(29) class) or 20N or Stephenson
saddle tank like Aust Ag Coy No 1, or something American.

I have tried searching for British and german Manufacturers on the web,
but can't find good online catalogues...

Any suggestions ??

TIA
Kim

If you are after narrow gauge and standard gauge HO Krauss Maffei, Baldwin
etc , I have a link to a Japanese Company in english. Their models are
ready to run but very expensive. At the moment they are redoing their
webpage but check over the next week or two to see if it has been updated.
meanwhile these links work

and another company

Kim,

A company called "Impetus" made a 4mm scale I & K class Manning-Wardle kit.
They were etched brass, I am not sure if Impetus still exist, but they made
some lovely models.

Another one for some nice kits is a company called "High Level" - they make
a very nice Black Hawthorn 0-4-0.

There are a few others that make Industrials, but they are the more modern
ones around, but they would be way too big in HO

I think that chivers have done a kit of an F class 0-4-0 Manning Wardle

Hope this helps a little,

Craig

I hear from UK newsgroups that Impetus have closed shop and is no longer
listed on the supplier list on the CLAG
http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~phold/clag/ web pages. They were nice
little locos, but are a bugger to motorise successfully! Sagami 1013's are
not the best motors to use in 4 mm scale models!

I have 4 of the old I class Manning Wardles in various stages of
construction. The are photos of some on my web pages
http://www.webfront.net.au/~davnbarb .

You could even try me!

We do kits for Wantage Tramway No7 (Modified Manning Wardle F classo
0-4-0) and LSWR Beyer Peacock 0-6-0 Saddle Tank, two of which worked in
Australia, I think at the cement works you mention.

G'day Kim,

Have you thought about the Fleischmann "Magic Train" range, the models are
relatively cheap, quite nicely proportioned and lend themselves to your
style of superdetailing!

At http://www.cia.com.au/bullack/ , "Lambing Flat's" mainpage for the HO
model and NSWGR information.
Or http://www.cia.com.au/bullack/rvrtitle.html for the "Rurr Valley
Railway", my G gauge garden line

Thanks to all replied here and directly.

As a result of the feedback I really do believe the description I read
that WWW is 'all the books in all the libraries in the world tipped on
the floor with the catalougues tipped on the floor in another city.'
(And off course how c***p the search engines are).

I reran some of my searches with limiters to some of the pages refered
to in this NG and by mail , and they still didn't come up !

Anyway heaps to look at and ponder
