Hi

I live in Adelaide and am relatively new to the scanning hobby. You
recently gave me some frequencies on emergency services which I was
very grateful for, I am now looking for other interesting things to
listen to. Can anyone recommend a place where I can get a list of
frequencies that I can tap into around Adelaide or does anyone have
some?

I am interested to, is there any frequencies that enable you to get
first hand weather information?

I would be grateful if you could help me out on what interesting things
there are to listen to in Adelaide. I have so far had a lot of pleasure
in listening to Police, Fire, Ambulance, some air traffic would
appreciate some on perhaps Qantas etc.

Regards

Paul Green

If you can understand weather readings, try searching for the ATIS at
adelaide airport....between 118 and 130 mhz. There you can hear the
latest wind shifts, cloud cover, barametric pressure, temp and any
other out of the ordinary occurances. all recorded so you can catch it
again if u miised it first time round. I dont have my book handy to
tell you the freq. (Dick Smith scanner guide, 30 bucks well spent)
Also try the aca web site mentioned in a previous post.

You can get freq guides from DICK SMITH but I would recommend buying one
called ESG FREQUENCY GUIDE. It is a tad expensive but is VERY good.
You can get it from JENSEN ELECTRONICS on Prospect Rd Prospect.

Also buy the magazine 'RADIO AND COMMUNICATIONS AUSTRALIA'. Out monthly from
newsagents. Not the best for freqs but okay otherwise.

Try your local shops which sell scanning equipment. .Dick Smith in NSW
sells a couple of frequency books which list EVERY freq and who uses it.
These books are available for every state.

The only problem with DS frequency books are that they are usually out of
date before they hit the stores.

If you live close enough to the coast, try 156.375 (Marine ch. 67) for the
offshore weather reports.

How often are these broadcast? Daily? Hourly?

I receive "Sydney Radio" broadcasting up and down the east coast every three
hours or so. I am pretty sure it would be the same set up for "Adelaide
Radio"

They will initially put a call out on 156.800 (marine ch.16) advising of the
weather report, traffic list or other message about to be broadcast on
156.375 (67) as well as on a number of HF channels. My advise would be to
key in the following marine frequencies

156.800 16 Calling, Emergency
156.375 67 Weather, Navigational Warnings, Traffic
156.575 71 Coastal Patrols, Coast Guards
156.625 72 " " " " "
156.675 73 " " " " "

Hope this helps,
