Ebay warning

Just a quick warning for those who buy and sell on ebay.
This morning I bought a UHF CB. I paid promptly with PayPal as I always do.
35 minutes later I got an email from ebay telling me the listing has been
cancelled and my bid was therefore null and void. I checked my PayPal
account, the money was gone.
I called ebay and had an long and heated conversation with the help desk
girl. (I feel sorry for her now I’ve calmed down). It seems the listing did
not comply with eBay's guidelines. I had noticed a small thing that may have
put it outside the legal requirements for UHF CB, but I knew how to fix it
so I didn't let it worry me.
It seems ebay don't get round to checking their listings are within their
guidelines for 24 hours, and if you click on buy-it-now before then, they
can still cancel it even if the purchase has already happened.
The help desk girl kept referring to the cancelled listing, and I kept
correcting her over and over. It wasn't a cancelled listing. The listing was
over. It had been a purchase. Past tense. It had happened. You cant cancel
something that has already happened and is history. Eventually she
understood and apologised on behalf of ebay. Which was probably against her
guidelines on how to deal with ranting customers.
They transferred me to PayPal who said I’ll have the money back in up to 10
days. But the seller emailed and was very understanding, he accepted the
claim and I had the funds within an hour.
Moral= If you see any small thing in the listing that may wake up the ebay
guidelines nazis, wait 24 hours before buying it.
