Things have been developing and growing ever more heated since snapper
disappeared from the radio and the internet (this newsgroup). Where
shall we start?
His disappearance meant that his friend from up the road, "spring
roll" (the handle adopted for its length, girth and the fact that
everyone's had one in their mouth) started dominating the repeater,
though with less prowess and ability as snapper.
In the absence of snapper, fakeid has turned his attention to spring
roll, introducing the now ubiquitous whispered phrase "springroll
sucks cocks" to the repeater. This sparked a fox hunt in february
which to date has produced no results.
FakeID's accomplishments on the other hand include finding and outing
a number of the people stalking him, locating and breaking into the
repeater, and causing the stalkers to break their midnight kerfew and
assume a 24/7 watch that has now involved searching all of Melbourne
by having fox hunters circling the ring road.
There are some things that have been learnt from all this in the mean
time:
1> The ACMA is corrupt. They have had ample opportunity to report the
fox hunting to the police. All such complaints to the police seem to
come to them so the complaints go nowhere, and fakeid has repeatedly
pointed out that this is stalking.
2> During the 0wning of the repeater, its timeout was set to 15
seconds for a few weeks. Fights were almost non-existant during this
period. People wishing to fight decided to switch their boom stations
to simplex. This is a major discovery I think. All repeaters on
which fights occur should have a 15 second timeout.
Things always seem to be reaching a boiling point, yet things always
seem to get worse. It's hard to imagine what can get worse now than
spring roll and the fox hunters denying everybody else use of the
repeater until fakeid is "brought" to him and nobody in a position of
power caring what's going on.

Let me see that was about 2 decades ago during the late 80's/early 90's
