Channel 3 Sydney UPDATE

Happy news at last !!
After the debacle with obtaining a site for Channel 3 at Mt Razorback and
being mucked around by various site owners for 14 months I am pleased to
report that Channel 3 Sydney now has a new home at Cataract Dam Appin. You
can check the ACA database @ www.aca.gov.au .
Installation of the repeater is scheduled for Sunday 31st March. Site tests
already conducted show that the repeater should have excellent coverage in
to Hume district areas and southern Sydney suburbs. The callsign of the
repeater is VMG3.Elevation is around 300m ASL. Talk timer is set to 9
minutes and idents a voice ident every 5 minutes. The repeater txs a ctcss
of 88.5 Hz.
If you are within the service area, give channel 3 a try and check its
performance. I hope the users of this new service have many years of
enjoyment and get good coverage out of it.

that it will only hear the repeater on that channel - very convenient if
you are in an area experiencing bad interference. With more an more UHF
CB radios coming out with the CTCSS capability, this is becoming more
useful as a tool for the average CBer.

Another obvious point that has slipped your tiny mind is that it is
unlikely that a guy that lives at Hurstville is going to be a power
station at Appin - the site of Ch 3 - so I doubt that the reason for him
setting it up is to extend his influence/propaganda.
And before you accuse me of being *one of his cronies*, I have never met
the guy, I have spoken to him on the odd occassion on Ch 1, but except
for the fact that he knows I live at Blakehurst, he wouldn't know me if
he fell over me!

I used to speak with Jason 15 +/- years ago on the Channel 3 Philips
repeater
that was at Prospect. I have met Jason and his associates over the years
also.
A lot of them have different tales to tell of course, but one thing in
common is, that
they all have knife marks in their backs, female and male !
So I consider a lengthy observation of Jason to a brief one like
yours to be more definitive in prognosis.

Its about $1000 per year for the site at Hurstville, a simple phone call to
Nationwide
at Hurstville would have told you that. They advertise floor space in that
building in the
newspaper when last I looked. Which if claimed correctly in business tax,
would be rebated,

In actual fact John, if Jason used legal equipment and not a 450.150Mhz
link, which is illegal,
according to the ACA, then he probably would be dumped or over powered by
the local guys !

A simple look at this 450.150Mhz point to point freq, in the ACA online
database
would show you the location of the units. Both at Hurstville.
