Jocks' Journal last month reported that:

"Rosemary Margan wil retire today (Apr 27) - 2 weeks short of her
70th birthday. It's been reported that Jane Holmes is leaving 3MP to
take Rosemary's position at 3AW".

My best mate, who is a very long-time 3MP listener, told me last week
about Jane's departure from 3MP.

Last week, radioinfo also confirms:

Jane Holmes departs 3MP this coming Friday, and will pop up on rival
3AW from Monday as the "live read" specialist in the Neil Mitchell
show. Jane takes over from the retiring Rosemary Margan.

Good luck to Jane. She's has a great talent that's been successfully
applied to both AM and FM stations in the past. She will do very well
in the role.

I worked with Jane at 3AW many years ago - she was the producer for the
late- (but not very) lamented Rev Alex Kenworthy. I was his announcer and
panel op. for a while. Good to see her move on.

I hope they use her talents for more than reading ads on Neil
Mitchell's morning show

I'd like to hear more women on radio - but Jane Holmes is not one of
them.

Get Jane on the occasional Sunday Morning with Darryn James. They
have actually worked together before at TT-FM (1991)

Well that's rather unkind, what brought that on?

I'm sorry P. I can't define what it is. I've heard her doing ads on
3AW and I guess she's OK (lovely voice). I don't know what it is.

It's only that I love hearing females on radio - there should be many
more. For some reason she's rubbed me up the wrong way. I get the
feeling she's not sincere (which is a stupid thing to say about radio
announcers).

Maybe I should give her another chance ...

This is radio - its all an act - and you can't see the person (if
they're even there) at the other end.

Tell me that who ever presents 3MP at night (with long gaps n all) is
actually in the building let alone in the studio ?

Is that sincerity ?

Its all an act to convince people that there truly is someone there,
and that the presenter has an interest in the music he plays, and is
providing some sincere entertainment to their listeners. That is not
the job of commercial radio. It's job is to play to an audience and
make money - simple ! - hot it does so is up to the station. Sincerity
and meaningfulness nas nothing to do with it.

At least Jane's there (or at least sounds like it) - and we must
remember no radio advertising is sincere. If it was sincere, then it
would not be advertising.

We all know what radio is about - let's not bring words like "sincere"
into anything

Great idea! I don't think it's crossed anyone's mind. Until they read this
of course.

Don't worry, I know what you're saying. Jane's the nicest person possible.
Maybe it's that she, in the same way as her predecessor Ms Margan, is so
nice it seems unbelievable! But Jane really is a fantastically sincere
person.
