Not long after its 30th birthday Bay City Radio 3MP has hit rock
bottom.
Yet there is still much to like about the station even now.
The music sounds OK to me, and they have some good on air announcers.
But how long can it last?
In the next weeks I'll write an essay on what should be done.
Should it be the chicken, the egg, or the economic wet six-pack?
No little nook or cranny will be ignored.
Something should be done, and I will give you the answers if the form
of a dog's breakfast.
Much of 3MP's troubles are caused from differentiation.
In Jack Trout's book "A Genie's Wisdom" we are told that 3MP's troubles
stem from the fact that their CEO isn't a marketing genius.
Al Ries also advises that 3MP has lost the battle of our minds ... let
alone what we hear.
Steve Rivkin suggest that 3MP should seek out a new positioning.
But when it all comes down to it Trout calls for "the power of
simplicity".
All will be revealed before I go off on another tangent.
