Just wondering if anyone here has experience with StationPlaylist. I've
just started a 30-day trial run of the software. It is cheaper than Jazler,
and the sound quality is terrific, but I'm not yet sure if it has all the
features of Jazler.
I already have some limited eperience with Jazler and know it has some
impressive features, especially one feature which allows the rebroadcast of
satelite radio program. Such a feature would allow taking live syndicated
programming. Does anyone know if StationPlaylist does the same?
The rebroadcast capability is essential for our needs here at the
narrowcasting station.
...From Justin
Artie, you know about Station Playlist, will it do what Justin wants?
Try Maximation it has comprehensive networking ability both as a head end
and as a relay,
It has native support for all major Australian satellite program providers
systems that can be triggered via the joystick port or via RS232.
It can even automatically swap between network profiles so you can take one
network in the morning and another in the afternoon.
It can also generate a schedule or rotate advertisements on the fly or read
a log generated in bluegum or a number of other traffic or music system
and it can automatically time out to the news at the top of each hour
selecting fillers to play to fill the gap
If you are automatically downloading Arties news it will update it's
duration and slip it in to the playlist each hour
Any way just give it a try

No it doesn't have all the features of Jazler, but then not as many
headaches either. If you don't care about a precise commercial scheduler
then it's ideal.
The new v4 is on the horizon and that removes the need to use Winamp
from the equation.

Isnt happy installing into Win2k, has issues trying to 'update'
scrrun.dll (why are you playing with my screensaver) and wmp.dll
(again, why are you playing with my media player)?
Also refuses to run if I dont register... I just want to look..
So so far your scoring 2/10

Hi Max:
Also doesnt want to uninstall, (just goes off in the weeds somewhere)
and Install doesnt create any icons in the menus
scrrun.dll is the windows scripting.dll (not the screen saver) and is
marked as no critical so it will install without updating it and wmp is the
windows media player.dll also ok to install without updating it because as
long as you have a version, not necessarily the same version as the
installer it will work.
Simply email the product ID to m...@healey.com.au and I will send you a
trial key
I will modify the installer based on your experience with windows 200k
BTW if there are no icons on the desktop and no uninstall in the control
panel's add remove section it is uninstalled, the directory may still be
there as any changes to the database will tell the operating system not to
delete it, on the bases that is you modified it you may not want to loose
it.
At any rate it would be safe to simply delete the folder as the only
components installed apart from the .exe file are simply visual basic
runtime files that the operating system considers to be shared components
and will not uninstall them. This is not unique to this application I use
the Microsoft installer to be 100% compatible with the operating system.
The errors you encountered are a result of my telling the installer to be
polite and prompt the user when there is a version problem rather then
simply overwriting .
Once again I appreciate the feed back 2/10 may be a bit harsh considering
you have not seen past the registration screen that was only added after an
early version of the software was stolen from a community station by a
computer smart presenter.
it's a tough business developing this kind of thing in Australia as people
are just as happy to buy something from the other side of the planet and
when you do get the software out there some people see it as a right to
distribute it to any one who may want it with out paying a cent.
Such is life ;-)

if it didn't put the icons in the start menu it must not of compleated the

Aha!
Comprehensive networking ability is certainly something we need. I've
touched base with four potential sources of program feed over the last
twelve months and it would be really good to recieve content from all
of them.
I reckon 87.6 Surf FM will have good potential. It is well located in
one of Melbourne's largest populated suburban cities - The City of
Frankston. Yet that's still not a big enough opportunity to establish
and maintain a program line-up that does not outsource.
I believe comprehensive networking is what's needed to get the on-air
blood pumping and then we can go to work on creating local windows of
programming, backed by a reliable automation system.

Sounds good.

That is really good to hear.

Like a data transfer?

I'm not aware if Artie's news is exactly on-the-hour. When my station
was part of the launch trial, three bulletins were produced daily and
made for download at certain times of the day. I need to be updated on
what's been changed.
The rest of any discussion about taking the news, from any provider, is
best kept private.
To be honest, there's much else to develop before a decision about news
feeds need to be taken. In the meantime, Double X reads news headlines
during its programming and I fed some of their program through Surf FM
as part of test broadcasts last month.
Where can I buy or trial Maximation?

That would be great. I've opened up the trial version on my computer
and been so busy, I've already exhausted the first days. However, I'll
hopefully find some spare hours this week and will contact you for
further advice if I think its likely I'll
make the purchase. I would be good to visit and chat about a number of
items, so I'll keep in mind.

I'm already impressed with the cross-fading of songs. It might be that
it can't perform all the tasks we'll need it to, yet we might still
purchase it because of particular features (eg: superior cross-fade,
short-term pricing solution, a feed into another system on another
computer).

Then joining the same hall-of-fame as the old cart machines :)

Sorry to hear of continued problems, but hopefully there's plenty of
scope for finding a dispute resolution.
For Surf FM, the order of events is pretty much technical/software
reengineering > introduction of playlist selection system > integrate
existing program feeds into automated system.
That's as far as I can see on the horozon at the moment. Sponsorship
(what would fund subscriptions) is a subject that will tie in better
with second semester studies of this year than first. Effectively, no
sponsorship drive is really possible in 2006, yet there's still plenty
to do in the meantime.
As well as sourcing from suppliers, we've got to set things up here in
order for Surf FM to be a good client ourselves. I'm optimistic we'll
get there in twelve months.

Artie:
Do you get pronounciation guides for your news service, your
pronounciation of Gumeracha (pron: Gumerracker) was so far off I didnt
recognise the town at first.
You might want to also give ZaraRadio a try:
http://www.casaresirratia.com/software/zararadio/ZaraRadio.exe
Website: http://www.zararadio.com/ (the website is in Spanish :)
A good English forum is here however:
http://www.zararadio.com/foro/
Definately worth a play considering its 100% free - I like the clean
interface, very stable and low overhead.
Supports inserting Internet Streams and Satellite etc feeds into the
schedule and nice crossfading with only one soundard required.
Also has a built in AGC and a nice talkover button to keep it sounding
tight.
:)
Not bad actually I just tried the audiostocker DLL as a AGC and chucked on a
playlist and does a pretty good job. You do have to fiddle with the
crossfade a little but the stop on this song gives you something over
Winamp, a little easier for live assist. Not bad for a very small program
and uses less resources then Winamp as well.
I did hear a little artefacts at times with some crossfades, might of been
audiostocker but doesn't do it with Winamp

Then send an email to the address shown on the rego screen, that will pop
up.
Then I will send you a key and some details on pricing, and my contact

Regardless of if you choose to buy or not I like people to have the best
