Has anyone heard of, or use the music scheduling software Powergold?

Thoughts?

I have used the old windows version Powergold 98 it wasn't bad, and have
been lucky to try Powergold 2000. Not bad software easy to use.

Haven't used the new version 2002 has anybody else?

Shaun Stapleton.

Yes I have used PowerGold 2002 and it is Brilliant.

It has so many more features then Selector including drag n drop, Visual
Analogue clocks for the jocks to view, easy to set-up rules and best of all,
less keys to remember and it can all be done from the touch of a mouse if
need be. It's only draw back at the moment is that it doesn't do APRA
reports for you!!!!! I have been told they are working on that for their
Australian stations.

I believe ARN use it Australia wide plus hundreds of stations in the US
(probably ones they own!!!)

But seriously, if it came down to a choice of Selector or Power Gold, I'd
take Power Gold no questions!

Hope that helps.

If you have anymore questions, just email me and I'll try to answer them for
you.

Not to mention *substantially* less expensive then
Selector especially when you factor in you don't
have to pay for an add-on program like Linker to
do psa's etc. It's all done within pg...sweet system,
and solid as well. Took about 3 hours to be
comfortable with it (when we moved off Selector).
Conversion was easy. No complaints here..

Yes as Gary says, it does do apra but you need to use the Canadian content
section.
It's a Band-Aid fix until they produce the Australian content version. My
guess is that will happen when more Australian clients sign up.

No offence, but most programs you will find will blow Bluegum away. Another
good program a little less intense than Selector and Power Gold is Music
Master. It's also American but still runs under dos format. Still it's a
good program and well priced.

Hope that helps you more.

We are currently using music master and though it's leaps and bounds ahead
of bluegum... and for what you pay it shows value... it still remains a very
limited system.

platooning categories are almost non existant, much of the movement really
needs to be planned through excell spreadsheets them changes performed in
music master. it fails to keep a history of previous categories etc.

Though I'm glad we are not using bluegum... can't wait to get onto selector
again or powergold.

Guys
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Clear Channel develope Powergold?
I heard that with so many US stations under CC control now they got sick
of sending truckloads of cash to Selector so built or bought their own.
Hence, I believe, all ARN stations have Powergold now.

You are close to the mark. The company actually already existed. they shop
around to find the best programs then went about finding which company was
for sale. Well RCS certainly weren't. Power Gold was a smaller company hence
they purchased it and the rest is history.
I think you'll find not all CC stations in OZ have Power Gold yet, but this
is only a mater of time. They currently use Selector.

4KQ/4BH/97.3 (???) were using the Wizard up until a few months ago. I
thought they went to the NextGen system (the next 'edition' of Wizard) but
perhaps they went to Powergold. I believe DMG uses Wizard so I don't know
what 4BH has done.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael I think you'll find NextGen and Wizard
are digital audio systems, whereas Powergold
is merely a music scheduler. It exports ascii
logs to the studio.

I stand corrected. Thanks arfur. I guess I just always assumed that a music
scheduler would be part of the onair systems.

Cheers.

Given what I've read in this thread the
convergence between these assets of
CC certainly seems logical.
