"The Rumba pop music festival is no more after organiser Austereo yesterday
announced that it was ditching the event after just two years, blaming poor
ticket sales
Austereo said the nationawide series of concerts last year turned in a
$3.8million loss, a turnaround from a $1million profit in 2001"
The article goes on about M-One
"Earlier last year, Austereo had been forced to cancel the M-One series of
concerts associated with Triple M, incuring a $4.9million loss
However, Mr Bickmore said that the Rumba name would live on as a brand to be
exploited as a marketing tool for Austereo's radio stations and through
possible licensing deals"
I guess it's up to NZ and their Rumba series now

Austereo has announced first half advertising revenue figures of $112.1
million on a budget of $114.3 million. The company has also announced plans
to divest non-core assets and close its concert division.
The review has led to the closure of A-Live Worldwide, Austereo's live
concert division, where the recent Rumba! concerts lost $3.8 million pre
tax. Whilst the concert business has been closed, Austereo believes it has
created a very exciting Rumba! brand name and it is actively pursuing
licensing opportunities.
