If you've ever wondered why Graham Gilbert at 2SM and on the Coralis network
is so liberal ? here's the answer. He was once a candidate for the Libs in
1994. He tried to win a seat in parliament in Tassie.

Fair question : they make announcers like Laws announce who they have as
sponsors. wjhy not make announcers make public their political connections.

but you don't see them stating that on air. Mary Delahunty of the Melbourne
7:30 Report is now a minister in the Victorian ALP Govt. But the ABC is
"independent" isn't it?

Yup.

Rod Henshaw, the morning host at 612ABC in Brisbane (formerly 4QR) was
the Liberal candidate for Dickson at the last poll, standing against
Cheryl Kernot

And Gary Hardgrave, the current Federal member for Moreton, was also
an ABC staffer (and is my son's godfather .. reckon you can work out
my political leanings?)

For every example I give, you could no doubt find a counter .. but
that's my point.

The ABC's staff is a very diverse lot.

Gary was also news editor for Sea FM down the Gold coast wasn't he? My
local member too. Keeps a good interest in the local media which I
suppose is great.

rayj, you've hit nerve there, I reckon all commercial talkback stations
are a haven for has been liberals. Especially the Sthn Cross network -
clear to see who they donate to.

And as 4QR and Henshaw, well John Howard would have have thanked Shier
for that.
