I need a source for a 200 pf or there about's air variable with better
spacing than the unit in service atm which is ex broadcast rx with
plates removed , it simply wont handle the limit so a better unit is
required for the remote tuner
happy to pay a reasonable price if anyone can help

I use to by stuff like this from RFparts even when I was living in VK;

Thanks for the reply although if I read it right they would need
plates out as well , I am running a home made mosfet amp around a 900w
max input > drive dependent so arcing is likely

but perhaps a local cap or supplier will be offered ?

Simple and affordable incidently

I fiddled with this http://www.w6kan.com/ssamp.html
for a while then bought a kit from the states (based on it) and
assembled it
I had happily ex pmg transfrmers for the 50v supply ( you know ohms
law) and some 100v caps for huge filter from some 5kw ups's the rest
was pure $ and time
Now do you have a spare air cap ?

V interesting article!

I have never bought from this crowd but they certainly have a nice website;

http://www.surplussales.com/Variables/AirVariables/AirVar1.html

About 3-5th item from the top.
