Tonight I updated the FAQ to
. include a link to the VK5/8 home page (nice page guys)
. fix a few out of date comments re counters
. update some "as of today's date" type comments
As of today there had been 1183 accesses to the FAQ page since
November 95.
The proposal I posted here a month ago, about discontinuing the
practice of posting the entire FAQ to the newsgroup, received two
comments only, both agreeing that it was probably time to cease using
the newsgroup for the FAQ.
As the VK2 and VK5 pages both reference the FAQ and are presumably the
main source of the traffic on the page, it seems to me that I should
restructure the FAQ as a set of smaller documents, as it is currently
a bit cumbersome, especially for 14.4k modem users. I reckon about 5k
up to 10k is big enough for each document segment. It will remain
possible to read the entire document from top to bottom by selecting a
"Next Page" link. Note I said "selecting", not "clicking". <g>
I intend to perform the restructuring during the next month or so. At
all times the FAQ at the above address will remain a viable web
document.
As always, input is welcome from readers on what the FAQ should
contain, how it could be reworded for an improvement etc.
