EasyPal is a new digital file/photo program similiar to HamPal developed by
Erik VK4AES and Chris VK3DNH.

It allows transfer via radio of most file types i.e .txt, .html, .mht,
.jpg, .exe,.zip and many more.

EasyPal Guide - updated 10/11/06

===================== MENU LINE ======================

File: Twain Select

Twain Acquire

Print

EXIT - Click to close the program.

Setup: Initial Setup - Enter/change Callsign, CommPort, Soundcard

TX Setup - Default DRM Mode should be Mode B, QAM 16,
Bandwidth 2.5 khz, Error Protect Normal, and
Interleave Short. On the TX tab, it will appear
as "B/2.5/Hi/16/Sht".

Start Delay of 12 will reduce transmit time by
reducing the number of redundant segments. The
setting of 24 will return when EasyPal is restarted.

TX DC Freq is best left at the default 350 Hz.

RX WFall Offset is best left at the default 0.

Form Size - Take care not to size the window too
small as you may loose access to the
adjustment slider and get the program
"stuck" in this size.

Progressive RX - Check to enable viewing image as it is coming in.

Show RX Full Screen - Image displayed full screen once received.

TX WaterFall Monitor - allows waterfall to be active while sending.

Turning on the "MONITOR" function on my
Icom IC-746 will send my TX audio back to
the input of my soundcard. The TX signal
can be seen in the waterfall.

AutoSave - Check to enable saving of images to "AutoSave" folder.

Show Message Dialogs

Show Repeater Commands - Check to enable "Rptr" menu.

Show bsrreq.bin - Allows viewing the contents of the last BSR rec.
If received from EasyPal, the top line is the
file ID number. The next line is the last
11 characters of the filename. Below that is
a code for the mode. All the numbers remaining
are all the segment numbers required.

LoadPIC - Allows for the loading of an image to be transmitted.
Large images will be resized down to 1280x1024.
The file will be converted and compressed into a JPEG-2000
image and the name changed to "Pic-############.JP2".
The "############" is a 12 digit number representing the
current year/month/day/hour/minute/seconds.
Animated GIF's will be renamed but will keep the GIF extension.

LoadAny - Allows for the loading of most any file type to be transmitted.
The file will be renamed but will keep the original extension.

Copy - Standard image copy to clipboard from the RX or TX screen.

Paste - Standard image paste from clipboard to the RX or TX screen.

Rptr: - Clicking any of the repeater access options from the "Rptr"
menu will immediately start transmitting that command to
any active HamPAL repeater on frequency:

a.r Interrogate External Repeater
b.r Request Repeat Back File
k.r Send Text to Repeater Waterfall (Includes text message)
c.r Ask Repeater to Re-send its BSR Request
f.r View Repeater Directory
g.r# Send Back Specified File (#=number of file)
i.r Request Webcam Picture from Any Repeater
(not available) Call Request Webcam Picture from ??? Repeater
d.r Shutdown External Repeater
e.r Restart External Repeater

Hide Repeater Commands - Removes the "Rptr" menu.

Wav - Brings up the "Send WAV File" list. Selecting a WAV file will
immediatelly play the audio from this WAV file. Create the
wav files using another program such as HamPAL or DIGTRX.
(Abort will drop the PTT but not stop the audio.)

Tune - Immediatelly sends the three tone tuning tone for 7 seconds.
(Abort will drop the PTT but not stop the audio.)

TRANSMIT - "<< EASY PAL >>" is sent in the waterfall before the data.

ABORT - Allows for stopping a picture, BSR, or FIX transmission.

BSR - Brings up the "Select File to Repair" window.
The last image file should have been selected, if not, manually
select the correct file by name or image.
Sends "**** BSR REQUEST ****" and "<< EASY PAL >>" in the
waterfall before the data.

FIX - After receiving a BSR, you will have a message on the title bar:

it may be a message like this:
"From W8PV You can repair Pic-060927122834.GIF Click "FIX"
Just click "FIX" to send the FIX.

or it may be a message like this:
"This BSR from "KB9RNB" is not from EasyPal. Repair in the usual way"
If you sent this file, just click "FIX" to send the FIX.
If you did not send the file, the original station may have to send
the fix.

or it may be a message like this:
"From "W9VMT" You do not have this file. This BSR request is for
another station"
In this case, you will have to get the file repaired before you
will be able to send any fixes.

The FIX sends "****** BSR FIX ******" and "<< EASY PAL >>" in the
waterfall before the data. Sometimes sends a "Short FIX".

Any station running EasyPal that successfully receives an image,
can send the fix for any other station that sends an BSR for that
same image from EasyPal. (The original image may be sent from any
program using a compatable DRM mode.)

There is no need to reload an image to fix someone. The files are
stored on the HDD so that it is possible to do a fix even after
the program is shut down and re-started.
