Why guns are so dangerous...........

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21503370
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel told the court that on the evening of 14 February, Mr Pistorius - a double amputee - had got up from bed, put
on his prostheses, walked seven metres (24ft) and fired his gun through the door of the small bathroom.

He shot four times and hit Ms Steenkamp three times, Mr Nel said.

As usual, blame is fixated on an object. Ignored is why the guy went
Homicidal in the first place and supposedly and crushed her skull
with a cricket bat.

Was the guy a mental case? No question. Did shrinks know and allow
him to wander around? It's the usual scenario for mass killers.

In this case, the `model' girlfriend probably wanted out
of the relationship.

Why don't you blame electricity? If the lights hadn't been on he
might not have been able to see her. OOOHH BAD ELECTRICITY!

Hardly any other common weapon will kill you through a door, eh?

Mass killers get guns too easily.

Where did you get this 'crushed her skull with a cricket bat' idea from?
Maybe you are the one fixated on an object!!!

You didn't mention that he, allegedly, bludgeoned her with a cricket bat.

Was your omission accidental, or deliberate?

FYI, hitting something you can't see with 3 out of 4 shots is a pretty neat
trick.

There has been no report that I have seen about him bludgeoning her with
a cricket bat. He said he uses a cricket bat to break down the locked toilet door
after he had fired 4 shots through it.

Nope. The prosecution may have some evidence about that.
Angle of gunshot wounds etc.
Either way it happened.
You seem to think shooting someone locked in a toilet would be hard.

The gun nuts reckon that all citizens should have guns in their homes
for self-defense.

That didn't seem to work for Pistorius' girlfriend.

In fact it was the gun in the home that killed her.

Just another example as to why gun control is needed urgently.

I suspect Pistorius killing the girlfriend will be found to be
a mental health issue combined with living in a violent
society run by blacks.

The truth is you can't tell who is nuts before they kill.
So don't give us any bullshit that 'mental health checks' etc.
could have avoided this murder. Having a gun under the
bed made it all too easy to kill someone through a locked
door.

And that fuckwit child Spartan613 has gone very quiet about
other possible self-defense weapons that kill through a locked door.

It is illegal in Australia to own a gun for self-defense.

The exact circumstances have not been resolved as to

whether it may have been under the bed or why.

She didn't have a firearm
She is now dead.

No, Pistorius killed her, he is being charged for the
murder. The Firearm did not kill her.

There is still to be resolved the part
the cricket bat played in being used to kill her.

Witnesses say she was alive when carried downstairs so it
has yet to be resolved she was killed in the locked bathroom.

I have a "Bear Alaskan" bow that would fuck up people behind a
lot of external doors, let alone internal ones. Failing that,
I have tomatoe stakes, star posts, fire extinguishers, I even
got an extension chain saw that hangs off the whipper snipper.

How gruesome do you want to get?

It is illegal to own a cricket bat for self defense as well.

She is now dead.

Should every wife/lover have a hidden weapon in case their spouse goes nuts?

Perhaps, but why would you shoot 4 times through a closed door

No excuse for shooting through a locked door, you are commiting
first degree murder, that much is clear. Pisto may get off the maximum
possible sentence but you don't have any excuse to execute someone
who is sitting on your toilet.

It has not been resolved why and what she was doing in
the toilet.

It could be assumed she was making noises that identified herself.
Pistorius `innocence` is at best, a notional technicality.
but a number of the details you see as fact have not been resolved.

You asked how could someone be killed through a locked toilet door.
It is claimed the killing was premeditated. so in such a case all these would have been made handy, tested and available.

How would _you_ kill someone through a locked door?
petrol?

The reality is Pistorius had a firearm, the girl didn't.
The girl is dead and there's a reasonable chance that
Pistorius will top himself before he goes to trial.
Now that he's been released, hell have a lot to
think about and some easy options.

Here's one

http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/fullhtml/inforce/act+127+1998+FIRST+0+N

[quote st]
(17) A side-handled baton or any other similar article consisting of a
baton, staff or rod that is made of any hard substance and has fitted
to one side a handle, whether or not that handle is permanently fixed,
but not including any such article that is produced and identified
as a children’s toy.
[quote fin]

When a cricket bat is intended to be used for self defense, it is a weapon.
Self defense is not a valid reason to have a weapon.

So if the cops come visitting and they ask you about a cricket bat
near the front door, you don't say it's there for self defense, you say you
were playing cricket and haven't put it away yet.

Says you. But you'd be wrong. Again.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the family of a mental case who killed his father
and another person are asking for something to be done about mental health
laws.

They'd been trying for years to have the psycho committed, but no one would
listen to them. And then he stabbed his father and sister to death. With a
kitchen knife.

> So don't give us any bullshit that 'mental health checks' etc.

Don't give us any of your hoplophobic bullshit.

He could just as easily hacked through with an axe and still killed her.
Idiot.

> And that fuckwit child Spartan613 has gone very quiet about

Axes aren't defence weapons, but they'll still do the trick.

Of course, the elephant in the room that you're trying to ignore is that if
SHE had been armed, it would have been a very different outcome.

Bullets can go either way through a thin door.

> It is illegal in Australia to own a gun for self-defense.

It's illegal to own ANYTHING in Australia for self-defence.

It's why the crooks are having a filed day.

Is that why you're so keen to maintain the status quo?

Killed plenty have you?
The Nazis in WW2 upgraded to gas chambers because using guns
was too hard on the troops.

I have seen a few first time hunter/killers freak when the beast doesn't
just collapse in a dead heap at the magical pulling of the trigger.

See if you can find "self-defence" as a legitimate reason to obtain a
firearm (if you don't work in the security industry).

After that, go to your local police station and ask them if self-defence is
a lawful reason to buy a cricket bat.

You really are dumb aren't you, the firearm Act 1996 makes no comment about
it being illegal to own ANYTHING in Australia for the purpose of
self-defence.

So you can't name the Law that you claim meant it is illegal to own ANYTHING
in Australia for the purpose of self-defense.

Then where does it say "self-defence" is a justification for a Permit To
Acquire?

"self defence". Enjoy spending the rest of the day in the watch house.

so you were wrong in your statement. The law in fact doesn't state what may
or may not be used for self defense

it applies to virtually anything that can be used as a weapon.

The following copy and paste comes from the Victoria Police website
and is posted here as a personal favour to Dechucka, our much loved
resident idiot who has so many opinions and no bloody idea on the
subject he is pontificating about.

==========================================================================
The Control of Weapons Act 1990 divides non-firearm weapons into three
basic categories; prohibited weapons, controlled weapons and dangerous
articles.

Prohibited weapons

Prohibited weapons are weapons that are considered inappropriate for
general possession and use without a Governor in Council Exemption
Order or a Chief Commissioner Approval.

Click here for a full list of prohibited weapons.

Note: accompanying images are examples of the types of prohibited
weapons listed - they are not definitive.

Click here for an informational poster concerning prohibited weapons.

Body Armour

Body armour is a garment or item:

(a) that is designed, intended or adapted for the purpose of
protecting the body from the effects of a weapon, including a firearm,
or

(b) that is prescribed by the regulations to be body armour.

Click here for further information regarding body armour, batons &
handcuffs

Controlled Weapons

Controlled weapons are weapons that can be used for legitimate
purposes but require regulation because of the possible danger they
pose to the community. This category of weapon includes knives that
while not considered prohibited weapons, still are a potential danger
to the community.

A person must not possess, carry or use a controlled weapon without
lawful excuse. Lawful excuse includes:

a) the pursuit of any lawful employment, duty or activity

b) participation in any lawful sport, recreation or entertainment, and

c) the legitimate collection, display or exhibition of weapon.

Lawful excuse does not include for the purpose of self-defence.

Click here for a full list of controlled weapons.

Note: accompanying images are examples of the types of controlled
weapons listed - they are not definitive.

Click here for an informational poster concerning controlled weapons.

Dangerous Articles

Dangerous articles are any item which is either:

carried with the intention of being used as a weapon, or
adapted or modified so as to be capable of being used as a weapon.
Dangerous articles can include things that are otherwise lawful. For
example, everyday tools, household items or sports equipment etc.

A person must not possess or carry dangerous articles in a public
place without lawful excuse.

Lawful excuse includes:

a) the pursuit of any lawful employment, duty or activity

b) participation in any lawful sport, recreation or entertainment

c) the legitimate collection, display or exhibition of the article,
and

d) the use of the article for the purpose for which it is designed or
intended.

Lawful excuse does not include for the purpose of self-defence.

The following images are examples of dangerous articles - they are not
definitive.

It comes as a shock that a simple `given' that we have a right to have
tools available for self defense has been taken away by our Government and it is unlawful to have tools for self defense.

Our only `right' is to call 000/911 and die waiting.

and if the situation is hairy, the boss cops will sit and evaluate the
OH&S (occupational health and safety) risks and you really _are_ on
your own.

An anti gunner, presented with the stark reality of just how fn#ked
over Australians have let themselves become and that those
`eevil gun nuts` might have a valid reason to be outraged might even
result in a life changing change of opinion.

They might ask themselves why they trust their neighbours to drive cars, trucks,
planes, store petrol and sports equipment etc etc but don't trust them with
a firearm. It's a sympton of an irrational fear that is spreading. Other symptoms are 6 foot high fences, driving children to school and a general mania to overprotect children in general.
