I'd just like to point out to you one little thing not in an attempt to put
you off or anything. Router or not, it isn't "secure" if you read some of
the sites devoted to Internet security. The only really secure way I had of
stopping people attempting to get in was when I used an Amiga. No port not
mentioned in it's config could be opened and if you mentioned a port in the
config, you could tie it to anything you like. I used to tie it to shell
windows and every time a hacker tried to get in, a window would open up on
top of what I was doing from where I would watch the buggers for a bit then
type a "hello" to them. Some got a laugh out of it actually. None ever
actually got through. Obviously only dial-up at the time though.
