That's incorrect, some are v92 capable at present but not ready to
advertise it.

I saw the first V92 modem I've ever come across yesterday.
Considering the cost of the ISP's modem chips for their access
concentrators... What value to them is using it?

Like any other business that has to compete, ISP's must "value-add" to their service...

So if you can offer your customers the ability to place their net call on hold whilst they take their voice calls, alot of customers
who want this ability will go their way...

Cost, Really ? must be talking about cisco, because other RAS equipment I
know of offer a software update (for free) but cisco dont give you shit
for free, and there crap is becomeing second rate anyway.

Any ISP running Cisco equipment with Mica or Nextent modems with the
latest drivers can support V92, excluding AS5200 series servers.

There's really no point in V92 as far as I can see. All it does it
enable QuickConnect by shortening retraining and shortening
handshaking. Once online, V92 makes no - or limited - difference to a
V90 connection

Sure it also incorporates Call-On-Hold, but if you're a serious net
user, you will have a dedicated line, no ?

The whole idea for V.92 is to attract the "non serious" net users who dont want to go to the expense of a dedicated line...

That and the QuickConnect feature...

People playing around with web/ftp servers on the end of their modem
would benefit from the increased upwards speed.
