Anyone know what's up with this song? :o

I've never heard it before, and last week it debuted at #3, but now
its completely out of the Top 50!?!

Is it an Aria screw up? Chart fix? Deleted single? Limited edition?

Heh, I was wondering the same thing.

The video looks painfully 80's, and the song is shithouse.

Another attempted Britney/Shakira/Nikki clone?

so so so simple...

according to aria.com.au, its debut so high last week was due to:

"Francesca Belperio is the 18 year old younger sister of ex- Scandal旦s
singer Anna Belperio. Francesca became the winner of the SNAP (Say No And
Phone) talent contest and snapped (sorry) up a recording contract. During
the past week she performed at the SNAP concerts at the Adelaide
Entertainment Centre, where copies of this, her debut single Way Of The
World, were sold. This was by far the biggest single on the South
Australian singles chart and has resulted in her debuting at #3 on the
national ARIAnet singles chart. "

No concert, noone buying single..single drops like a brick out of the
charts.
Simple

The end

It dropped out of the Top 100, actually. Here are the chart runs:

LW TW
* National: 3 -> 305
* South Australia: 1 -> 165

The single is not available outside of South Australia, hence it not
showing up in other states. (sales are low at this time of the year so
it's not surprising how the single so easily managed to get into the
top 5 last week).

No conspiracy here, unfortunately - just limited distribution.
According to ARIA, Francesca did a performance just over a fortnight
ago at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, where this single was also
sold. Its entry at #3 is the result of sales from one location on one
day (it's possible that a few copies could have been purchased from
the centre the following week by the curious). Apparently there is no
distribution deal as yet so we're unlikely to see the song climb up
the chart anytime soon. That's a damn shame as I would have loved to
own a single that just made the record books...

A little bit of chart trivia: "Way Of The World" now becomes the
biggest faller in the top 100 singles chart. It is also the first Top
5 single to spend just one solitary week in the top 100. And in case
anyone's wondering, "About A Girl" by Nirvana spent two weeks in the
top 100 (chart run: 4-76-172-194). If WOTW is released commercially
and widely distributed, and it does chart again (probably out of
genuine curiosity for its infamy <g>), I'm not sure how it'll skew its
status in the record books. ;)

Not in this case, fortunately. Well, we hope not. <g>

Just for anyone who is actually interested in a copy of this single, and
lives in SA, you can pick up a copy of WOTW from the "Muses" stores in
Rundle Mall and Tea Tree Plus. They have about 5 copies each, so if you're
quick, you should be able to pick one up. Sarch, I bought a copy for that
exact same reason, just because it was a single that has made chart history
:)

[snip]

Thanks for the tip. I phoned Muses this morning and ordered a copy. I
should get it by Friday. Total cost, including delivery from Adelaide
to Melbourne, is $8.

I've never heard the song and it may be utter shite, but curiosity and
the chance to own the infamous single got to me. <g>

Ultimately, however, I think the single will eventually get a
distribution deal, but its the possibility of differing catalogue
number and new b-side tracks may mean that any future chart re-entry
will be registered as a new entry. Still, the $8 purchase is cheaper
than most singles at Sanity so I'm not too fussed about the
possibility of this being a waste of money. ;)

I was in my local independant music shop today and was shocked to see
the single just sitting there on the shelves, and in healthy stock.

Any reason why this would be here in Sydney?

The tracklisting was
1) Way Of The World
2) (Multimedia)
