TAKING AUSTRALIAN BANDS & SITES TO THE WORLD IN A WEEK
ŚAUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK ONLINEą TO ROCK THE WORLD IN AUGUST
Starting the week of August 1, 2001, a series of events will be staged to
put the spotlight on Australian performing and recording artists,
Australian music etailers and music e-commerce sites, Australian music
business sites and Australian music fan or music information Internet
presences. Itąs called Australian Music Week Online and it is anchored by
the three day National Entertainment Industry Conference August 2-4 and
the 3rd Annual Australian Online Music Awards (ONYA! Awards) which will be
webcast August 4 at 8:30 pm (AEST) from a Sydney venue.
Itąs an online initiative free of charge for the Australian music
industry, totally non-profit and not associated in any way with any
existing music associations or their Australian music promotions. It
costs nothing to participate, open to all.
Enlisting the participation of Australian artists, their management,
record companies, publishers, industry associations, etailers and online
music companies, various plans for Australian Music Week Online as an
annual event are:
ONLINE CONCERT WEBCASTS‹From a Sydney venue, a series of seven online
concerts featuring a total of between 14-21 Australian artists will be
webcast, ending in a SuperSession of jamming local talent. Directed
overseas with intense online publicity and promotion, it promises to
attract big audiences for the performing artists which are planned to
encompass all musical genres.
OZMUSIC ONSALE ONLINE‹Leading Australian online music retailers ChaosMusic
and Sanity.com are the first to commit, featuring promotions and sales of
Australian artist releases with special emphasis on those releases of
online performing artists in the concert series. Geared to attracting
export product of Australian origin, it will boost revenues of Oz online
retail through a variety of etail entities.
THE AUSTRALIAN STREAMING AUDIO & VIDEO NETWORK‹An umbrella event guide
that directs viewers and listeners to video clips of Australian artists
from individual artist sites, music video program sites and record company
sites as well as special Australian music programming from native online
radio channels. The audio and video clips will be a mix of live and
dubbed recordings with the specific permission of all copyright owners,
fully licensed and paid for online broadcast.
ONLINE MUSIC COMPETITIONS AND GIVEAWAYS‹To spur even more listeners and
viewers, a series of competitions and merchandise promotions will be given
away‹especially to overseas surfers via an offshore distribution point.
NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY CONFERENCE‹A three day event, sponsored by
Apple Computer Australia in its fifth year, will have the major Artist
Keynote Speech delivered at 11am Thursday August 2 streamed the hour prior
to the ONYA! Awards with conference highlights (7:30 pm August 4). NEIC
is on music business, music technology and online music featuring 50
speakers over three days with up to 500 participants held at the Sydney
Superdome Ballroom.
3rd AUSTRALIAN ONLINE MUSIC AWARDS (ONYA! Awards)‹Featuring six top
Australian artists in live performance from the Sydney venue, guest
celebrity presenters and a fast paced 90 minute program from 8:30 pm
(AEST), the ONYA! Awards honour excellence and innovation in the delivery
of online music and music evangelism. The program will be webcast through
sponsor OzEmail Internet and Microsoft Windows Media Player with plans to
once again do a broadband feed through selected outlets as well as adding
a cable television broadcast this year.
THEMUSIC.COM.AU‹The ultimate music industry portal established in January
2001 will serve as a router for music sites, information and news as well
as a promotional arm for accessing artist sites, label sites, association
links and other interesting Australian Music Internet presences.
