What is the damage??.. are the barrell/s nipped up??
I have a KR1 that I am doing an engine swap in at the moment.(another KR1
motor).
I have learnt quite a bit over the past month or so.. maybe can help.. know
some guys in Melb. who could help out if your barrels nipped up.

Cheers.

thanks for the reply mate , seems as though only kiwis show interest in
owning or racing KR1 . no one in perth races them so the only info i can get
is on the net . the damage , dreaded ring peg , piston rings caught on
exaust port, major scoring and chewed piston, do i have to repair both
barrells , what about bottom end . so many questions ,lol
regards glenn hopkins ( expat kiwi)

That would be a KR1S?? They had SHIT loads of probs with this. I did
and Sean Thomas, and a few others.

I went through 4 sets of barrels on this, but there is an updated
piston to stop this happening.
I raced my KR1S got me to B grade... Good bike, shame Kawasaki didnt
put into it what Suzuki put into the RGV....

the guy I sold it to did the crank, but that was 3 seasons old.... I
was too tight to do it!

I know a few tricks to get the KR1S going fast, and still gets past
scruitneers(helps when you are one checking the bikes yaself!)

Oh and theres a full house Formula 2 kit, pipes, barrels, pistons,
carbs, ignition etc for it too.... *WEG*...

I have a spare left barrell if thats the one that has nipped up... the
other... same as you :(...
But I dont have the KR1s model.. only a KR1
Anyone have damige's email.. I need to ask him sommit about the powervalve
configuration.
I bought a whole motor from the wrkers for $400.. They also sell barells for
$150.
There is a place that will re-Nickosil them for you... even if there pretty
bad. they strip them, weld em and re-coat all for about $200. Mine was too
far gone.. the piston chiped... how the fuck I dont know.. but the stray
piece of piston floated around the chamber a bit and totally screwed it.

I would suggest you contact Chris Dupen at Netbikes
(netb...@netbikes.com.au). He was rebuilding one recently and may be able to
help.
