Then the Superbikes in late Feb is just the tonic you need :)

Usually a good get together for pizza, beer, good laughs.... oh, and
the bikes of course.

Johno

just stay away from Betty though... nasty as all shit when she been

Yup!

Having one now, but thanks anyway, JohnO. :-)

I'd like to see the GPs going back to simple capacity classes, full stop.

All this piss farting about 4 or 2 stroke, how many cylinders, and the
phase of the moon, defines capacity and weight, plus Dog knows what
other complicated rules.... a load of shite.

Engine capacity.... end of story..... if someone is clever enough to
build a V10 engine that is 250 cc in capacity, put it in a bike frame
and get someone good enough to ride it, go for it!

CrazyCam

Blecch; engine-capacity always favours two-smokes, rotaries or
multiple-cylinders.
The only fair way is fuel-consumption! Have three classes; 15L/80km,
20L/100km and 25L/120km with a standard dimension definition for each
(bike must be between a&b long, c&d wide and e&f high) and must meet
certain safety considerations but apart from that go for it!

Then we'd see some innovation (and fun!)

Well, I'd rather have your system than the current one, but I wasn't
interested in "fair", nor am I interested in "green" or fuel efficiency,
I only want to see folk racing technically advanced bikes, really,
really fast!

And anyway, what's wrong with favouring two-stroles? :-)

And a great race it was too. For those who remember (and how could you
forget this one) this was the race when K.Schwantz grabbed the oil flag
(they don't have these any more do they) from the marshall and sat on
the side of the track warning the other riders to stay wide.

It was a beaut trip down memory lane! Schwantz with his odd sit-up
riding style and Gardner looking as determined as a Terminator (and
wasn't Foggy was a handsome boy too?) Pete Goddard finished well too.

Pity it started 40mins late so I didn't get all the Goodwood festival
afterwards.

They showed some really good car racing after the bikes. What are
probably irreplacable vintage cars being raced like there was a world
championship at stake, and by blokes who probably retired from
professional racing when Johno was a lad.

Is this the same Aunt Betty who was dropped into a hostile zone with just
a bowie knife and a bottle of whiskey?

Cos they sound like glorified chainsaws.

I loved the first of the 990s, particularly the Dukes. The 800s are more high
pitched screaming 2 stroke wannabes. Hopefully a return to a 1l class will fix
this anomaly...

How many of those teams other than HRC are still participating today? That too
is an indication of how things are going.

I don't... the 990's are WSB wannabe bikes.

The 2 strokes were different which made them interesting.

Even the old Norton Rotary (with it's lack of wins) was interesting.

The new 990's are a bit blah...

Bingo..

I agree with that too.. and the tech on them was great.

Whatever happened with that

I've become more interested in superbikes since this has happened.

No idea what happened to the racing program.

The road bike version persisted for a while mostly selling euro style
sports/tourers (think R1100RT or Guzzi Norge style) mostly to British
plods for a while. I'm fairly certain that stopped a while back to though.

I was always interested in superbikes but I've become less interested in GP.
