I'm interested in buying a Japanese Domestic Market/used import Ducati 400S
"Junior".(www.bikepoint.co.nz)
Are there any online reviews on this bike, and does anyone have any tips on
what I should look out for?

Or should I buy Japanese, previously had Yamahas, a RZ250 and a TDR250.

Thanks in advance for your input/advice.

Rusty

Umm.. "Gutless" is the word I'd use :)

You really would be better off hunting a 600.

If your other bikes have been Yam strokers, I think the 400 will
really disappoint you.

eeek sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

me thinks you would better off with a 600ss and then playing to make it a
fast 600ss or closer to a 750ss

or even a 750ss

Better to spend the extra and get that.
With the keihins and suspension mods it should
go and handle.
Ive got a 900ss and all it really needs is the keihins.

Considering the 600 is gutless I hate to think what the 400 would be like.

From what I read in newsgroups these days it seems like the build quality
has gone even further down the tube since Cagiva and now this yank mob took
over the company.

The pre Cagiva bikes were a bit suss in some areas but overall I have had
few problems with my Ducatis up to 1986.

Are the new Ducatis that bad????

Rob.

Thank you all for your replies.

I was thinking four stroke = lower maintenance, so was originally thinking
SRX6..but I like the sound and look of the Ducati Vtwin....BUT then I knew a
guy with a Cagiva Allazura which had a few issues.

Bugger the maintenance..might look for a RG400 or 500 or another TDR..anyone
else tried a TDR? Huge fun.

Again thanks for your replies.

Build quality wise, I reckon my '90 851 stands up very well compared to the
current bikes....

It's done nearly 38k miles now without going 'bang'.... ;o)

don't listen to em....

If you want it, buy it. For that money you can have fun and get a jap bike.
A 400SS in aus, I only know of 2, so why not get something rare. And there
is nothing slow about the 600SS.
