There are a few grey imports around, and they are a ittle different to
the regular GPX's seen on our roads in regards to having twin front
disks and moulded rear turning lights.

My first bike was a GPX250R2. The difference between this and a GPX250
was basically that the R2 has 2 front brake disks instead of one. The
GPX250R2 is also a grey import. There is no Australian model.
Another distinction is that the Australian GPX has "GPX" written on the
side, whereas the R2 has "ninja" written on the side. (At least for
models circa 1990. Im not sure how the newer models are painted). As far
as I know there is no GPX250R. I think the EX designation refers to the
engine (on my registration certificate the engine model was prefixed
with EX, not GPX). That raises the question, are ZZRs and Eliminators,
which are built around the same engine, also designated as EX's ?

The GPz1100 was ticketed as a ZXR750 range by the RTA. Work that one
out!

Especially the green ones, mumbles on about pizza & kids programs,

The model code that Kawasaki and there dealers use is EX250F.
They are sold as GPX250F.
The Ninja stickers are just for looks.
They are all the same bike from the first model until now.
Exept colour or specs for other countries regarding polution etc..
The ZZR250 is different and is called EX250H by the trade.
But the engine is basicly the same thing.

What about "fireblade", "firestorm", "blackbird", "monster" .....

The rat and the pizza eaters where always on the telly when she was
a younger slip of a thing.
I personally don't really care what a bike's called as long as it does
what it says on the box that it came in, although there have been a few
dubious names over the years.
I'm sure you could all contribute one or two ?
Cheers
Mark.

oh i see....I have also heard that the GPZ 250r (grey import?) is a EX
(GPX) 250f..?!?!
Ray
IIRC my ZZR250 is designated as an EX250H.
Purchased the Kawasaki workshop manuals when I got the bike - you get one
for the engine and its the same for the ZZR and the GPX etc, and then a
supplement for your particular model which covers everything else.

Brilliant Doherty!
The kid called, shit whats his name, has ADD, old man owned that coffee
shop, and the underpant gnomes kept stealing his grundies, gets a
Guernsey as a RZ500. You know, peaky, smelly, scares you when it talks,
not the thing you take with you to impress pillions or to gain
confidence in you.
Kyle is the Diversion 900, boring to look at, half fairing, average
The mayor is the Across, the parallel is the stupid fuel tank, and well,
I m not gonna say anymore
Mr Macckie, is a CBR1000, quite, inoffensive, but loosen him up and he
performs well
Yeah, its piss funny in my head too.

Doubt it. The reason the Japanese GPX's with the
Ninja decals slapped on the side are grey imports
is because (mentioned earlier) the rear
indicators are moulded into the fairing and as
such they don't meet the minimum required
distance between indicators by RTA standards.
Also the electrical system doesn't meet
Australian standards (although this was
essentially because of the law requiring a lack
of on/off switch for the headlight - with the
light permanently on).
On that note anyone wanna buy my '95 smashed up
GPX250?? Engine and gear box are great but
you'll hafta rebuild the front end (including
replacing the fairing). Only done 25kkm.

Now, should I draw a parallel between a certain Harley? I think that
might evoke the gods of wrath, so I will leave that to Clem.
See you at the BBQ!

That would make Hamish Mr Twig because Mr Hat keeps trying
to kill him?
One of Zebees old rattly bikes would have to be Mr Hanky
because it leaves bits of itself wherever it goes and while
it's a good friend to Zebee it looks like a piece of
shit to everyone else...

Damn right!
Mind you, the T hasnt shed anything for age, (that's the Duke's job)
but last night it jettisoned of all things the headlight
switch!

How much do you want for the engine & carburetors alone? I've got an EL that's seen a surprising
amount of action compared with their kin, and a new engine would be more than welcome. Of course, if
I had my way I'd be shoe-horning a GS500 engine into the bay - Should work in theory - the size is
fine, it's a twin so the geometry isn't a problem, and I'm sure the manifolds to the airbox can be
adjusted accordingly. It'd mean a new exhaust system though - Gee Damn, NOT!! B-)
