encroaching on property rights.

ground to gather potential evidence of animal abuse.
Spokesman Mark Pearson says the practice will not contravene trespass or
privacy laws".
So if you own property, someone can frack up the ground beneath you and
someone else can buzz around 10 metres above - all you 'own' is a 10

"Could hamper?" Considering how low most heli-mustering is done, a
small flying object of any size would be bloody dangerous.

sent via satellite, the el cheapos drones on sale to the general
public have a very limited range - as any model plane flier will
tell you. They dont have live video feeds, just cameras that take
continuous filming of whatever they are flying over - so very little
chance of catching any wrong doing. Flight time of the electric
powered models is very limited - 20mins? the diesel powered
ones are horrendously noisy and would make easy targets for
anyone with a shotgun - and cant fly much longer than the electric
models. Maybe someone has been looking on eBay and thinking
"wow a $250 spy drone, I'll have some of that".
The drones the coppers are thinking about using are way more
sophisticated and expensive than any animal rights group could
afford - hours of flying time, fly high with long lens camera well
out of sight and sound, live video feed, GPS, etc. And a price that
most African nations would call their GDP - oh and a van full of
electronics keeping track of where the dam thing is.
The serious criminal gangs in the US have already got jammers in
place over their properties - does n't take long for the crims to have
the technology to beat the coppers - probably had it before the
coppers anyway and then sold them the drones :)
