Last September, NEAR (New England Audio Resource) became the first
loudspeaker manufacturer to start building Tekna Sonic's patented
vibration control systems into their loudspeakers for the Home Theater
market. The reviews of these speakers are just coming out now. The NEAR
15M speaker is featured in Audio magazine, June 1997, pp. 52-54 (U.S.
edition). The president of NEAR also told me that a review of the 50Me
speaker will appear online at www.soundstage.com, beginning
June 1. Reviews are being prepared for publication in Australia as well.

Cabinet distortion in loudspeakers is a significant factor in the quality
of the sound produced in all audio systems. Overall sound clarity and
listening enjoyment can be greatly enhanced by removing the vibrations in
the cabinet that produce distortion. This distortion is produced not only
at the primary resonance frequency, but at various harmonics of that
frequency as well and can be very destructive even in expensive and
otherwise well engineered speakers. Tekna Sonic vibration control systems
can improve speaker performance as much as 15 db.

Readers wishing more general discussion of cabinet distortion (box
coloration) can find it on the Tekna Sonic website www.teknasonic.com
