Are there players for the .flac audio format? Any recommendations welcome. I have a lot of music on the PC but would like to play it on the hi-fi system and can easily burn CDs. Also is there a DVD player that plays the .flac (or mp3) format.

TIA

Plenty. Search and ye shall find. Of the free ones, I have gravitated
towards J.River Media Jukebox 12 http://www.mediajukebox.com/. Some
like Foobar2000 http://www.foobar2000.org/. AlbumPlayer is another
one http://www.albumplayer.com/, but its not free.

Buy a USB DAC.

I think he is asing for an external player or something that he can connect
to his television and store files on or stream from his computer onto his
tv. Not a software player for his pc.

I know the Logitech Squeezebox range of products do support playback of
FLAC.With Wireless or wired connection to your existing network. And also
double as internet ratdio as well.

Logitech squeezebox (no speakers. Has lineout. Connects to tv or amplifier
to use speakers)
Logitech squeezebox Boom. (has speakers, no line out)

Take a look at a Squeezebox
(http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/products/overview.html). It
understands FLAC and you don't have to burn discs.
