Hi All

I'm a singer guitarist from Melbourne
I produce my own backing tracks and I'm looking for a
good cd player to play my backing tracks on (which will go through
the PA)

The system I'm after should be able to have 4 or 5 cd's
queued available to be played by remote control.

Also I need a clear display on the unit and a system that is pretty sturdy
(to cope with being moved around a lot) and also if there are any
"shock absorber" type features that would stop the cd's skipping if the
people
on the dance floor get a bit too enthusiastic

I'm pretty cashed up so money isn't a real issue

Any suggestions on which system/s would be good
would be most helpful

Many Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,
I would use something like the Marantz PMD340, balanced out, heavy duty
mechanism, but NOT multi-disc. Designed for radio station use with constant
use. Is rack mount, and large buffer:
PROFESSIONAL CD PLAYER: Large backlit LCD Display,
Single/Continuous/Programmable Play Modes, Digital +/-12% Pitch Controls,
Serial Port, Fader Start, Backlit Transport Buttons, 10 Button Key Pad for
Direct Track and Index Access, Programmable Cue Point Memory, Headphone with
Level, End of Track Monitor, A-B Repeat, 30° from Horizontal Operating
Angle, Reads CD-R and CD-RW as well as standard CD audio. 2RU.
They retail for $1,800, but I have one that I don't get a chance to
use very often, so email me if interested.
Take out the [antispam] from my email address.
Have a look at:
http://www.tag.au.com/ and click on Marantz Professional, and look at
CD players

TAG are the distribution agent for Marantz pro CD players. There are no
multi-disc systems on the web site. There is also the issue of carrying a
carousel system with disks on board. I would not try it, as te discs would
be prone to dislodging.
Denon have a "radio station" style jukebox system, but I do not think that
it is for transportable use.

in that case, try pioneer - they tend to like stacker-style changers...and i

Pioneer seem to have a range of CDJ systems, which would be good for a disco
setup, and a range of jukeboxes, but these are to replace to traditional
"saloon" style systems. Again not moveable.
I would suggest a couple or more of the Marantz pro CD players in an
aluminiium road case with internal suspension. There are cheaper versions
from the PMD340 avalable.
