Some info on Neem trees, .....Botanical name is Azedaracta Indica , it
comes from the drier tropical areas of India. It will grow in Brisbane, and
with the right conditions will finish up a very large tree, it is closely
related to the "White Cedar Tree ", ....Melia Azederach , looks similar
,and grows similar. They will not repel insects at all on their own , quite
the contrary, they help attract them . Oil is extracted from the seeds ,
and this is what is being used as an insecticidal spray on other plants,
also in hair shampoos , and soaps for human use. There are also claims that
crushing the leaves and "brewing" a tea with them , then using the tea as a
spray also works very successfully as an insect deterrent.
Hope this helps a bit.
Regards John Mac.
